Meet Our Friendly Team

Alistair Hicks

Alistair Hicks.jpgAs a husband and a father to three children, the family is incredibly important to Alistair. It’s one of the reasons he joined Home Instead Senior Care, working first in Japan to help expand the franchise, then in Eastern Canada.

He established Home Instead Senior Care® of Victoria over 12 years ago. Today, Alistair leads a large, dynamic team who are dedicated to helping seniors live independently at home.

Marge Tawtel

Marge Tawtel 2.jpgMarge hails from Montreal Quebec. She called Alberta home for 25 years before landing in the paradise of Victoria.

She is passionate about helping seniors and she feels lucky to have found a home with other people as passionate about it as she is.

“I have been with Alistair and this wonderful Office for almost 10 years,” says Marge. “I started as a CAREGiver. Now, I do a little bit of everything!”

When not in the office, Marge is spending time with her family - her spouse of over 35 years, and her three wonderful children aged 29, 26 and 23, or she is in Portugal, which she calls “my other happy place!”

Peggy Hancyk

Peggy Hancyk 2.jpgPeggy left Ontario over 26 years ago to enjoy life on the coast. As a former teacher, educator, consultant, business owner and volunteer, she enjoyed all the benefits of living in Victoria while raising a family and taking care of her aging mother.  Peggy’s lifetime passion of working with seniors led her to Home Instead Senior Care where she has been for the last three and a half years.

“As the Community Relations Coordinator, you will not often see me in the office,” says Peggy. My job is to be out in the community connecting with seniors, retirement homes, social workers, and case workers. I also provide Dementia and Eldercare workshops and presentations.”

One of her favourite roles she gets to perform is Chief Executive Elf for the Be A Santa To A Senior Program sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care at Christmas time. Peggy loves hiking with her dogs, gardening, cooking for family and friends and reading an eclectic assortment of books.

Tania Keller

Tanya Keller.jpgTania came to Home Instead with a large skill set derived from working in many fields including; arts administration, TV and film production, publicity, marketing, event management, and public relations. She has been working in the Senior’s Industry for the past six years in a variety of capacities.

Tania has a Public Relations Certificate Program at the University of Victoria, two boys, aged 15 and 18, and she likes walking, hiking, and exploring the West Coast.

Allen Reed

Allen Reed.jpgAllen gets around.  He grew up in Texas (you can tell by his accent) and then lived in Manhattan, New York for 20 years prior to arriving in Victoria last year. He has worked as both Human Resources and Operations Manager throughout North America.

Allen joined Home Instead in January 2016, where he is enjoying the Home Instead focus on caring and making a difference in people’s lives. Around the office, he is known for his wide variety of skills, helpful disposition, and his great coffee.

On the weekends, Allen enjoys cycling, waterfalls, antiques, the ocean, and the people of the west coast.

John Morrison

John Morrison.jpgJohn has recently returned to Victoria after living in Vancouver for more than 15 years. He has experience in working in health-related sectors with the University of Victoria, Vancouver Coastal Health, and the Canadian Red Cross. He's delighted to join the team at Home Instead Senior Care in Victoria as Office Coordinator.

When John isn't in the office, he enjoys tennis, swimming, walking and spending time with family and friends.

Jade Johnston

Jade Johnston web.jpgJade is fresh out of school and excited to start her career with Home Instead and share in the zeal the organization feels for seniors in the community. You will see her in the office doing everything she can to ensure clients are well taken care of.

When not in the office, you can catch her in her back yard with friends playing pool volleyball or cheering for a Nascar race. She is passionate about cooking and baking; something that she learned from her grandmother, and she enjoys teaching her two children, girl 15 and boy 9.
