As President, Alice oversees and manages all areas of the business. She has over 20 years' experience working in and providing counsel to health care and seniors care companies.
Prior to acquiring Home Instead Senior Care, Alice was the Vice President of Public Relations and practice lead for Colour Creative Persuasion. Before Colour, she was Vice President, Business Development and Marketing for Heritage Gas and previously General Manager for Stericycle.
Outside of her practice, Alice has actively engaged in a number of initiatives to build a better community. She is a shareholder and board member of Chebucto Pockwock Lake Wind Field Limited. She also serves on Committees for the IWK Health Foundation, Saint Mary's University and Thyroid Cancer Care Nova Scotia. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Board of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and was a member of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce's Provincial Affairs Policy Committee.
Alice has a BBA from St. Francis Xavier University and an MBA from Saint Mary's University.
As Relationship Manager, Brittany connects with
families and community members by presenting Public Education Programs and
sharing how the Home Instead Senior Care team can work to deliver home care
solutions. She is also responsible enhancing and maintaining relationships with
new and existing referral sources. Brittany believes strongly in a
collaborative approach to care and takes pride in the knowledge she has gained since
joining the Home Instead team in June 2015 and she is passionate about ensuring
clients are receiving the best care possible.
Brittany graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a Certificate in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology. Her personal experience with her grandfather's Alzheimer's disease, made her realize the need for professional care and assistance.
When Brittany is not working, she loves taking yoga and barre classes, spending time at her cottage, travelling and going on walks her dapple miniature dachshund, Enso.
As Staffing Advisor, Ellen works to ensure all aspects of the office are running smoothly. She manages employees' schedules, and also assists the client services team in identifying compatible personalities when matching CAREGivers with clients.
Ellen graduated from Saint Mary's University with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and Criminology. Her interest in social work as well as her personal experience with her grandfather's advanced dementia attracted her to the field of professional care and assistance.
When she is not working, Ellen enjoys decorating cakes, watching horror films, and visiting animals at local shelters.
As Staffing Advisor, Deena helps in managing CAREGiver
schedules while keeping in mind client needs, to assist in making the perfect
fit. As a graduate of Dalhousie University focusing in psychology, Deena enjoys
finding CAREGiver/client matches that will provide a comfortable,
successful relationship. As well, Deena is completing her Disability Management Certificate at Dalhousie
University, and is eager to apply those skills on the office Occupational
Health and Safety Committee.
When Deena is not working, she enjoys spending her time with
friends or relaxing by a pool or ocean. Deena volunteers as a General
Representative for the Nova Scotia Research Ethics Board, and enjoys the
challenge and interesting content of this position. Deena is as well a former
member of the World Youth Choir and Nova Scotia Youth Choir, and loves to spend
her free time singing and playing piano!
Samantha joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in August 2019. She
had been out of the workforce for 8 years from crippling arthritis, Myalgic
encephalomyelitis (ME) and spinal damage.
Samantha has a background in sales and fitness, her fitness career
came to an abrupt halt in 2009 after it was determined to be more damaging than
helpful. She then worked as a travel agent. As of 2011 Samantha was unable to
Ventures like painting pet portraits from home, and starting her
own radio show and blog, kept her busy for a few years but she yearned to be
working a normal job again.
Samantha is very excited to be a part of the Home Instead Senior
Care team, where she can work from home, with an understanding team of people,
and know that she is helping others in need. She hopes to retire with the
Samantha describes herself as a very empathetic and compassionate
person, with a good sense of humour and a loud laugh. She loves to write, cook,
bake, knit, watch documentaries and read in her spare time.
Jim is the Accounting Manager and views his job as a new chapter on his career path. A graduate from Mount Saint Vincent University’s Bachelor of Business Administration program he received a Gold “V” award recognizing his commitment and contribution to the University community. He brings to this position extensive accounting experience gained, over the years, from working in the automotive, hospitality and residential property management industries.
He provides timely and accurate information to staff and clients and works within the administrative team to help achieve continued growth and profitability for Home Instead. Jim is a traveller at heart and enjoys planning vacations with his wife and fine-tuning his cooking skills.
As On Call Coordinator, Kandace provides support to our team by being on call a few times a month.
Kandace completed Eastern College’s Medical Administrative program and attended Mount Saint Vincent University for three years of a Bachelor of Arts. When she joined Home Instead Senior Care on a work placement initiative her administrative talents were quickly utilized.
Kandace, a former member of MSVU’s Basketball team, still plays basketball weekly in a women’s league, loves to hit the gym, and enjoys spending time with her grandmother. Kandace also enjoys a good scare and thoroughly loves horror movies.
