As President, Alice oversees and manages all areas of the business. She has over 20 years' experience working in and providing counsel to health care and senior care companies.
Prior to acquiring Home Instead Senior Care, Alice was the Vice President of Public Relations and practice lead for Colour Creative Persuasion. Before Colour, she was Vice President, Business Development and Marketing for Heritage Gas and previously General Manager for Stericycle.
Outside of her practice, Alice has actively engaged in a number of initiatives to build a better community. She is a shareholder and board member of Chebucto Pockwock Lake Wind Field Limited. She also serves on Committees for the IWK Health Foundation, Saint Mary's University and Thyroid Cancer Care Nova Scotia. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Board of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and was a member of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce's Provincial Affairs Policy Committee.
Alice has a BBA from St. Francis Xavier University and an MBA from Saint Mary's University.
As the Director of Service & Engagement, Brittany connects with
families and community members by presenting Public Education Programs and
sharing how the Home Instead Senior Care team can work to deliver home care
solutions. She is also responsible for enhancing and maintaining relationships with
new and existing referral sources. Brittany believes strongly in a
collaborative approach to care and takes pride in the knowledge she has gained since
joining the Home Instead team in June 2015. Brittany is passionate about ensuring
clients are receiving the best care possible.
Brittany graduated from Saint Mary’s University with a Certificate in Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology. Her personal experience with her grandfather's Alzheimer's disease, made her realize the need for professional care and assistance.
When Brittany is not working, she loves taking yoga and barre classes, spending time at her cottage, travelling and going on walks with her dapple miniature dachshund, Enso.
As Human Resources Manager, Sheilah works to ensure all aspects of our CAREGivers' employment are running smoothly. After completing a work placement at a long-term care community for her post-graduate HR diploma, Sheilah was happy to start work for company with a similar goal of enhancing seniors' lives.
In her spare time, Sheilah likes to shop, read, and spoil her cat Rudy.
Before moving to Nova Scotia in 2000 with her twin sister, Tammy attended
Concordia University and majored in Sociology, though, Tammy was always drawn
towards Gerontology. Once Tammy came to this realization, that her passion was
to care to the elderly, she pursued a career in nursing and has worked as an LPN
Prior to working with Home Instead, Tammy worked in Long
Term Care and then in the community with the VON. Tammy is exited to bring her
knowledge and skills she’s gained in her past roles to the team at Home Instead
and she is glad she can continue with her nursing experience to make a
difference in our clients lives. She is passionate about fulfilling client’s
needs so they can remain independent in their homes for as long as possible.
When Tammy isn’t working, she enjoys reading, cooking and
spending time outdoors with her son, daughter and husband.
As Staffing Advisor, Deena helps in managing CAREGiver
schedules while keeping in mind client needs, to assist in making the perfect
fit. As a graduate of Dalhousie University focusing in psychology, Deena enjoys
finding CAREGiver/client matches that will provide a comfortable,
successful relationship. As well, Deena is completing her Disability Management Certificate at Dalhousie
University, and is eager to apply those skills on the office Occupational
Health and Safety Committee.
When Deena is not working, she enjoys spending her time with
friends or relaxing by a pool or ocean. Deena volunteers as a General
Representative for the Nova Scotia Research Ethics Board, and enjoys the
challenge and interesting content of this position. Deena is as well a former
member of the World Youth Choir and Nova Scotia Youth Choir, and loves to spend
her free time singing and playing piano!
Tanya joined the Home Instead team in 2020. She comes from 25 years of experience in the restaurant industry but her passion for serving others brought her to Home Instead. In her past role, as General Manager, she has developed skills transferable to her role as a Staffing Advisor.
As a Staffing Advisor, Tanya is responsible for scheduling clients and CAREGivers and committed to creating compatible matches to guarantee great relationships.
In Tanya's spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two children and her friends. She also enjoys going for walks and cooking.
Samantha joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in August 2019. As a Staffing Advisor, Sam is responsible for scheduling clients and CAREGivers. She is extremely passionate about helping others which shows in her work. Her resounding commitment is to find compatible client-caregiver matches to guarantee great relationships.
Samantha describes herself as a very empathetic and compassionate person, with a good sense of humour and a loud laugh. She loves to write, cook, bake, knit, watch documentaries and read in her spare time.
Ian has taken on the role of Recruitment Coordinator with Home Instead. Ian's 101-year-old grandfather has received services from a Home Instead CAREGiver for the past 10 years. Ian saw the difference that CAREGivers made in the life of his grandfather and wanted to help other seniors remain at home as they handle the challenges associated with aging. This experience fuels his desire to hire amazing CAREGivers
Ian helps people discover the rewards and challenges of being a CAREGiver for Home Instead Senior Care, while ensuring that new hires have the right skills and personality to make a difference in the life of a senior.
When Ian is not working, Ian enjoys reading the news, spending time with friends, learning new skills, and playing chess with his grandfather.
Jim is the Accounting Manager and views his job as a new chapter on his career path. A graduate from Mount Saint Vincent University’s Bachelor of Business Administration program he received a Gold “V” award recognizing his commitment and contribution to the University community. He brings to this position extensive accounting experience gained, over the years, from working in the automotive, hospitality and residential property management industries.
He provides timely and accurate information to staff and clients and works within the administrative team to help achieve continued growth and profitability for Home Instead. Jim is a traveller at heart and enjoys planning vacations with his wife and fine-tuning his cooking skills.
