Ashley Carlton - Lead Staffing Coordinator

Ashley Carlton - Lead Staffing Coordinator

Ashley joined the Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach team in November 2013.  During her tenure, she has served in several roles.  In her current position, she handles Client and CAREGiver scheduling, answering calls after hours and on weekends, and managing the Long-Term Care insurance paperwork process.  Ashley was motivated to join the senior healthcare industry after spending so much time with her Great Aunt and her Grammy Bear.  She saw the joy that one conversation or one visit can bring someone who does not have a lot.  Ashley grew up in Southern California and attended college in Northern California on a volleyball scholarship.  She is married and has a son and a dog.  In her spare time, she loves to go to hockey games, spend time with her family and coach and play volleyball.

​Laura joined the Home Instead Senior Care Team, Long Beach office in August 2017, shortly after she relocated from Washington State.  Prior to joining our team, she worked for a Home Instead office in Sequim, Washington for 8 years, where she worked as a CAREGiver and then moved into the office and worked in the Staffing department.  At our office, Laura is responsible for staffing and CAREGiver payroll.  Laura is married to her high school sweetheart and has two children.  In her free time, she enjoys family time, being outdoors, bike riding and going to her daughter's basketball games.


Jenna Bolton - Staffing/Client Care Coordinator

Jenna Bolton - Staffing/Client Care Coordinator Jenna joined the Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach team in June 2016. In her role as Staffing Coordinator, she assesses the caregivers and clients profile and personality to assure a good match for both the caregiver and client. She is currently going to Cal State University of Dominguez Hills where she is studying community health science and plans to become an occupational therapist.  Jenna was motivated to join the health care industry when her brother was diagnosed with Autism. She spent her free time in high school volunteering for special education programs, and that is when she realized that the health care industry needs more passionate employees. In her spare time, she enjoys paddle boarding, photography, hiking, and spending time with her kitten.

James Pierce - Intern

James Pierce - Intern

James joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in January 2016.  He is currently attending Orange Coast College as a business major and will be transferring to Long Beach State in Fall 2018.  In his role of Intern, James is responsible for assisting and filling in wherever he is needed.  He helps with answering phones, staffing, billing, payroll and making sure there is always a good cup of coffee available for guests and employees alike.  James has been passionate about working with seniors ever since he provided care for his own grandparents.  In his free time, James enjoys playing piano and regularly plays at a local jazz jam session (as well as at the company holiday party each year).  He also enjoys playing sports, including volleyball and basketball.


Kimberlee Oliver - HR Administrator

Kimberlee Oliver - HR Administrator

Kimberlee joined the Home Instead team in February 2016.  She was originally hired as the Receptionist and was promoted to her current role as HR Administrator in 2017.  In her current role, Kimberlee is responsible for CAREGiver screening, hiring and on-boarding.  Kimberlee graduated from Azusa Pacific University and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology.  She hopes to write a book in the near future.  When asked why she is passionate about working for Home Instead, she replied, "I know I'm working with a company that strives to make the lives of our seniors better – not just by the assistance and care we provide – but also by sharing conversation and understanding with them and their families."  During her free time, Kimberlee enjoys singing, hiking, road trips, drinking coffee and going on new adventures with her husband, Jason.


Jennifer Langner - Training & Engagement Manager

Jennifer Langner - Training & Engagement Manager

Jennifer joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in April 2016.  As the Training and Engagement Coordinator, Jennifer is responsible for all franchise education and training.  She has been dedicated to the customer service industry for 25 years, including emphasis on corporate training and education, hands-on training and one-on-one education.  Although she has spent the majority of her career in the Midwest, she's carried her energy, passion and commitment out to the West Coast to join forces with the rest of the Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach team.  In her spare time, she enjoys running, hula hooping, photography, college football, and exploring Southern California with her family.


Kenzie Barnett - Client Care Coordinator

Kenzie Barnett - Client Care Coordinator

​Kenzie joined the Home Instead Senior Care team in May 2017.  She holds her BS degree in Health Science from Cal State University, Northridge.  She is currently pursuing her advanced degree with the goal of becoming a Physician Assistant where she can utilize her big personality to help improve the lives of others.  In her position with Home Instead, Kenzie is responsible for conducting Quality Assurance visits with clients to ensure that they are receiving the appropriate level of care needed.  Kenzie also meets with prospective clients to gain an understanding of their care needs and expectations.  In her spare time, Kenzie enjoys nature and practicing yoga.  A favorite quote of hers is, "When you show interest in the lives of seniors it not only creates a bond, but improves their quality of life.  Quality is longevity."


Shavon Pierce - Chief People Officer

Shavon joined Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach in January 2016 when she and her husband purchased the franchise.  Shavon’s role in the company is to provide support and assistance with anything related to our employees, our clients and our community partners. 
 
Shavon grew up in San Pedro, attended Cal State Long Beach before transferring to Cal State Fullerton where she earned her BS Degree in Psychology.  She spent the first 15 years of her career working in Human Resources for a variety of companies in Los Angeles and Orange County.  After her three sons were born, she spent time working as an HR consultant as well as volunteering her time with local non-profit organizations. 
 
Shavon is very passionate about making a difference in the lives of seniors.  As the daughter of parents who have been clients of Home Instead, she understands what a huge impact our CAREGivers make in the lives of seniors and their families.

Don Pierce - President

Don joined the Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach team in January 2016 when he and Shavon purchased the franchise. Don’s role is to support all team members in their delivery of high-touch customer service to our employees, clients and community partners and to oversee all aspects of the company’s operations and performance.
 
Don grew up in Huntington Beach, earned his BS Degree in Business from California State University, Long Beach and his Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of California, Irvine. During his career, he has run several businesses and has always focused on delivering excellent service to the customer. Over the years, he has served on non-profit boards, committed significant time to volunteering for local non-profits, community based organizations and giving back to the community.
 
Don is very passionate about enhancing the lives of seniors.  Seeing firsthand the impact caregivers can have on enhancing the lives of seniors and the poor performance of several companies who had been used to provide caregivers for family members, he decided to buy, own and operate this company.  By owning and operating Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach, he leads the charge to ensure that services provided to seniors and their families by Home Instead Senior Care Long Beach meet or exceed his high expectations.
