Shannon Carithers, RN - Owner

Shannon Carithers, RN - Owner

​Shannon Carithers and his wife Melody are the owners of Home Instead Senior Care of Charleston.  Shannon is a Registered Nurse and previously worked at the Medical University of South Carolina.  Melody's background includes marketing and sales in senior communities and the medical industry.  He and his wife are South Carolina natives, and together they have 40 years combined healthcare experience.  Shannon is responsible for the day to day operations of the business. He works closely with both clients and CAREGivers to ensure the best care


Kenzie Brogden - General Manager

Kenzie Brogden - General Manager

A North Carolina native, Kenzie started her journey with Home Instead as a CAREGiver during her years at Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.  With an extensive background in human resources and the senior care industry, Kenzie joined our team in 2015 as the Human Resources Manager.  In 2016, she was promoted to the role of General Manager.  As General Manager, Kenzie works with all departments to manage day-to-day operations as well as client and CAREGiver satisfaction.  Her knowledge, work ethic and warm heart make her an excellent leader for our Charleston team.  In her spare time, Kenzie and her husband Ryan enjoy traveling, attending concerts, and spending time with their six fur babies.  


Whitney Markle, Human Resource Director

Whitney Markle, Human Resource Director

Whitney started her career in the HR field in 2009 and has spent the last 7 years working in the healthcare industry. Whitney started her career at Home Instead in Nov. of 2017 as our Recruiting and Retention Coordinator but was promoted to the HR Director in April of 2019. As the HR Director, Whitney oversees the HR dept and the scheduling team. She handles day to day HR issues that arise,  facilitates our new hire CG training and helps manage our Quarterly Meetings. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends including her husband of 15 years and two boys. 


Elizabeth Felder McDermott - Community Service Director

Elizabeth Felder McDermott - Community Service Director

​Elizabeth is a native of Charleston and has been serving the Low Country as a volunteer and leader for three decades. Elizabeth has a double major in Sociology and History. She comes to Home Instead Senior Care with over 17 years’ experience as a Pharmaceutical Representative. Elizabeth’s primary responsibilities are marketing and educating the community on non-medical home care, aging issues and dementias. As a member of South Carolina Aging in Place and Lowcountry Senior Network, Elizabeth is able to provide resources to our clients. She enjoys cooking, water and snow skiing with her husband and daughter.  


Melinda Aranda - Community Service Representative

Melinda Aranda - Community Service Representative

Melinda was born in Augusta, Ga but has called Charleston home for over 18 years.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications with a minor in speech from Augusta State University.  Melinda has over 20 years experience in sales and marketing with the majority of it in the healthcare field.

In her spare time she enjoys watching college football, gardening, and spending time with her husband and 6 year old twins.​


Anne Morefield - Lead Client Care Coordinator

Anne Morefield - Lead Client Care Coordinator

​Anne was born into a military family and was raised in Germany.  She moved to the United States in 1989.  She studied Business Administration and Management, Computer Information System Analysis's and Medical Terminology at Lake Sumter Community College in Central Florida.  She started working in the medical field in 1998.  In the early 2000's Anne was on the show Trauma: Life in the ER while working at the Trauma Center in Orlando, FL.  Anne started working for Home Instead Senior Care July 2017 as a Client Care Coordinator and was promoted to Lead Client Care Coordinator April 2019.  She provides our client's and their families a warm smile and a shoulder to lean on.  She facilitates family relationships between our caregivers and their client's.  She addresses any concerns the client or their family have and provides solutions.  She has lived in Charleston for 10 years.  Anne enjoys the outdoors, exploring historical sites and traveling.  Her oldest son is in the Navy and she is a proud Navy Mom. In addition to him,  she has  2 other children and 2 step children with her husband Travis.


Laura Yzaguirre – Client Care Coordinator

Laura Yzaguirre – Client Care Coordinator

Laura grew up as a military child and later became a military wife.  After living in Charleston for 10 years, her and her family decided to permanently call our beautiful city "home."  Laura thoroughly enjoys the Senior citizen community.  She feels there is no better way to serve their needs and help improve their quality of life than to be on the "front lines" with them. Laura works with other Care team members to build supportive relationships with our clients, families and caregivers. She addresses concerns of clients, families, and caregivers and provides solutions along with additional community resources. Laura holds a South Carolina certification as a Nurse's Aide.  She has a background in caregiving and hospice work.  Laura has taken several classes on Dementia to increase her knowledge on this subject.  In Laura's free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and volunteering to facilitate her favorite game BINGO at local assisted living facilities.


Pam Bartenfield - Service Liaison

Pam Bartenfield - Service Liaison

​In 2011 Pam became a CAREGiver for Home Instead, after caring for multiple family members. In 2013 she was recruited to join our office staff. Pam performs multiple administrative responsibilities, including assisting Human Resources. Pam is a Clemson Graduate and has a Masters of Education from Converse College. After 29 years as an elementary teacher, she volunteered at MUSC Holling's Cancer Center and started a wedding and a floral design business. Pam enjoys gardening, college football and entertaining family and friends.​
