The professionals at Home instead made a hard decision a little less so. For instance, about 7 days before her move, my mother ended up in the emergency room. When I arrived at the ER, having driven from Maryland, I found the CARE Manager at my mother's bedside. I could not be more grateful and thank her enough."

"I have worked with a few different home care agencies as well as interviewed with a few. HISC (Home Instead Senior Care) offers a one day orientation (which all others I dealt with don't), they also have a care trainer that will accompany you to your first few clients, assist with teaching skills (as for the use of lifts or how to do anything really), or at least call you prior to a shift with a new client to brief you - all of which I have NEVER experienced with other companies. While interviewing with other companies the interview itself is minimal - which makes it clear they'll hire anyone and they are just trying to fill the holes. However, HISC will not just hire anyone. Rumor has it that careless staff members don't last here, they will ask you to leave, even during the orientation process. There are care managers overlooking the care of all clients as well as keeping in touch with care aides, so any concerns you have for your client over your shift you can text the care manager. They seriously DO care. I am in touch with the care managers of all my clients and we are always improving the quality of care as well as keeping the standard high. Care managers also investigate complaints, for instance - if you have reason to believe certain care measures are not being taken, the care manager will follow up. I have been with this company for only two or three months but I am pursuing my Masters in Public Health on the side as well and I have come to really appreciate the quality care standard this company sets. It is hands down different than any other company I have worked for. I normally never rate a 10, as I personally believe there is always room for improvement, but I believe a 10 here is necessary as this company STANDS OUT beyond all others so well and I want others to know it. I love being employed here!"

"Earlier this year I was faced with a situation with my mother where she needed to have someone stay with her 24/7. As an only child with no family nearby, I quickly realized I could not handle everything on my own. I met with Chris and we came up with a plan where I could spend as much time as I could with my mom, while feeling secure that she was being cared for while I also spent time with my husband and children. Overall, I was very happy with the caregivers who were assigned to my mom's care. D'anne, in particular went above and beyond to treat my mom with respect and dignity even during the days she was angry or confused. She found ways to connect with her and my mom would visibly cheer up when she showed up to stay with her. Those little things meant the world to me during such a stressful, emotional time. Only once I had a concern with another caregiver and the misunderstanding was dealt with quickly and easily. Brooke was wonderful in answering my questions about scheduling and accommodating changes. Kendra checked in with me regularly to make sure I didn't have any concerns and to make sure I was doing ok. I truthfully do not know what I would have done without having such a caring, supportive group of people that I could rely on during my mom's last few weeks with us. I will be forever grateful for their kindness in their care of my mom.
"I have had nothing but a positive experience with Home Instead Senior Care. My dad has been a client with them for almost 8 years. He's had many caregivers - some good, most of them excellent. We only had one instance where we felt the need to replace a caregiver and it was handled quickly and appropriately.
The scheduling staff can be commended for handling their busy workload and are always pleasant when I need to contact them with a schedule change.
