Home Instead Caregiver

A tradition of great caregiving means that we take care of our own as well as we take care you and your family.

Home Instead recognizes outstanding CAREGivers who demonstrate the Attributes of Love (v). This program inspires CAREGivers to strive for excellence, and it rewards CAREGivers for their hard work, compassionate care and dedicated service to others.

On an annual basis, we select a CAREGiver of the Year and celebrate him/her at a special reception at our office. Our CAREGiver of the Year is also presented to our corporate headquarters in Omaha, Neb., as a nominee for the national award — The Mary Steibel CAREGiverSM of the Year Award.

Sheboygan CAREGiver of the Month

October | Sharon

Having retired from the banking industry after 28 years, Sharon wanted to apply her passion for helping people. As a professional CAREGiver, she has been able to put that to good use.

In her time with us, Sharon has emerged as one of our rock-star performers. For example, she is quick and eager to help in unpredictable situations, such as when a peer is unable to make a shift; in those situations, she treats the clients just the same, demonstrating commitment and selflessness as well as keeping the office abreast of any updates. She is known for her warm, welcoming personality; inviting demeanor; and cheerful disposition.

Outside of work, Sharon volunteers at her church. She enjoys reading books and listening to classical, ‘50s and ‘60s music. She and her husband have four children, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

September | Karen

A shining example of Commitment and Kindness, Karen is known for her ability to bring a smile to her clients’ faces. In addition to a sparkling sense of humor, Karen brings a positive, can-do attitude to each client visit. When a client is having a rough day or a tough time, Karen has a way of making them feel comfortable and cheering them up.

Karen also takes the time to get to know each client on an individual basis so that she can better understand their backgrounds and unique circumstances and needs. If she uncovers anything in her conversations with her clients, she always updates the office so that care plans can be adjusted. When she’s not serving her clients, she is never far away. Karen enjoys helping at the office, and, being only a phone call away, she is willing to take open shifts. She often goes the extra mile to ensure our clients have care.

In her free time, Karen likes to camp in Wisconsin Dells with her family.
