Home Instead Caregiver

A tradition of great caregiving means that we take care of our own as well as we take care you and your family. CGOTM_Logo_edited.gif

Home Instead recognizes outstanding CAREGivers who demonstrate the Attributes of Love (v). This program inspires CAREGivers to strive for excellence, and it rewards CAREGivers for their hard work, compassionate care and dedicated service to others.

On an annual basis, we select a CAREGiver of the Year and celebrate him/her at a special reception at our office. Our CAREGiver of the Year is also presented to our corporate headquarters in Omaha, Neb., as a nominee for the national award — The Mary Steibel CAREGiverSM of the Year Award.

Sheboygan CAREGiver of the Month
2019

May | Nicole

What sets her apart: Nicole puts her clients’ needs ahead of her own. She also strives to “always listen” and “work within the limitations of each client.”

Attribute of Love (v) she demonstrates: Understanding that age can come with illnesses and complications, Nicole practices Patience. She strives to understand a difficult situation from the client’s perspective, and this allows her to adapt to the client’s needs, make things easier on her client and ease some of the client’s daily stressors.

Hobbies: In her spare time, Nicole enjoys going on hikes with her dogs, traveling and working at the haunted house during the fall.

April | Karen

What makes her a great CAREGiver: Karen makes a great CAREGiver because she always goes above and beyond for her clients, even driving in inclement weather to be a dependable source of care.

What sets her apart: Karen has never missed a scheduled shift; in fact, she often offers to stay longer at a client’s home if necessary.

Attribute of Love (v) she demonstrates: Karen selflessly puts her clients first.

Free time: Karen enjoys working out and staying active at her local YMCA.

March | Camie

Why she chose Home Instead: Camie loves meeting new people and helping them. Being a CAREGiver is an opportunity to make others feel good and to put a smile on their faces. She stated, “It makes a difference in their lives.”

What makes her a great CAREGiver: Camie consistently rearranges her schedule to make sure she can accommodate everyone, even accepting shifts in seemingly small timeframes. If she has available time, she is willing to step in! And when Camie cares for a new client, the office undoubtedly receives a phone call to request her again.

Attribute(s) of Love (v) she demonstrates: Camie is a model of Selflessness, always willing to give up her own time to help someone else regardless if she knows him/her. Even in blinding snowstorms, Camie has been seen driving to her clients’ homes and taking on additional responsibilities.

Free time: Camie loves camping, riding motorcycles and spending time with her family.

February | Gloria

What makes her a great CAREGiver: Gloria stands out for her client dedication, flexibility, willingness to help others and selfless service. She puts the needs of her clients above herself, making sure they are taken care of and that the best care is given. For example, in addition to doing activities with and for her clients, Gloria often stays later, if needed, to help her clients.

Attributes of Love (v) she demonstrates: Gloria exhibits Commitment, Kindness, Patience and Selflessness often.

Testimonial: "Gloria has been a pleasure since she started. She takes pride in all she does, and tries to represent Home Instead and our values well. I see why her clients love her!"

Hobbies: Gloria enjoys arts and crafts, sewing and family time. In addition, she’s a big fan of auto/drag racing and car shows.

January 2019 | Sheila

What makes her a great CAREGiver: Sheila is always willing to accommodate her schedule to assist with last-minute scheduling needs. She even stays later to help her clients, if needed.

Attribute(s) of Love (v) she demonstrates: Sheila is a great example of selflessness and commitment. For example, one of her clients asked her to bake several dozen cookies for her daughter’s event. Sheila agreed to make them before her shift ended. She even stayed later to finish up; however, to her surprise, the cookies were “flat as a board.” (The oven was not working properly, but, because she didn’t want the daughter to be disappointed, she went to the store after her shift and purchased several dozen cookies.)

Likes: Sheila likes to read, garden and spend time with her grandchildren. She is an active member of a book club, the Sheboygan Historical Society and her church.
