Home Instead Caregiver

A tradition of great caregiving means that we take care of our own as well as we take care you and your family.

Home Instead recognizes outstanding CAREGivers who demonstrate the Attributes of Love (v). This program inspires CAREGivers to strive for excellence, and it rewards CAREGivers for their hard work, compassionate care and dedicated service to others.

On an annual basis, we select a CAREGiver of the Year and celebrate him/her at a special reception at our office. Our CAREGiver of the Year is also presented to our corporate headquarters in Omaha, Neb., as a nominee for the national award — The Mary Steibel CAREGiverSM of the Year Award.

Sheboygan CAREGiver of the Month
2020

November 2020 | Brenda

This month's CAREGiver of the Year nomination is extra special to us. That's because one of our beloved clients called to nominate Brenda. The wife of the client shared a personal story about her great experience with Brenda:

"She has become part of our family. While she has connected well with my husband, we both enjoy her company. Brenda is always positive and finds ways to bring laughter. Above everything else, she is dependable; we can count on Brenda to be here for us. During her first night with us, the battery on our sit-to-stand lift stopped working, but, together with Brenda, we managed. I was very impressed that she came back the next night because I was nervous that scared her off. In addition, she's knowledgeable, and we can tell she really cares about her work, even being extra careful about going out during the pandemic, which is greatly appreciated!"

October 2020 | Karen

We’re so blessed to have Karen on our team. During the past few months, Karen has gone above and beyond in assisting with several clients who require extra support. Her schedule has been full, with picking up shifts every weekend and even working beyond her availability. What a display of commitment!

In addition to being committed, Karen is very dependable,  trustworthy and kindhearted, which makes her an ideal caregiver for just about every client. She is flexible and able to adapt to any new environment. And through the changes and busy schedules, Karen continues to display a genuinely positive attitude, something  admired by all whom she meets.

September 2020 | Crystal

Crystal is one of the most kind-hearted people you will meet. She embodies our Core Value of Love (v) in everything she does. When caring for clients, Crystal puts her entire heart into it. And because she's such a caring person who has her clients' needs in mind, she is diligent to provide our office with updates and concerns about her clients' health; she'll even offer suggestions on how we can improve our cares.

We are beyond blessed to have Crystal as part of the Sheboygan/Manitowoc team, and are excited to watch her grow with us.

August 2020 | Morgan

Morgan is one of the sweetest people you’ll ever meet. And that kindness is always on display when she’s with her clients and when she communicates with the office staff; in fact, you’ll see Morgan stopping by the office on numerous occasions to give us updates on her clients. And if she notices that the office is short-handed, she does what she can to help out.

A Key Player said, “Morgan’s growth, from her first day with Home Instead to today, is amazing to see.”

After work, Morgan likes to go camping and hang out with friends. She also enjoys traveling and cheering for the Milwaukee Brewers and Green Bay Packers.

July 2020 | Gloria

Gloria embodies patience and honesty. Since she joined our team in November 2018, she has repeatedly demonstrated these Attributes when serving clients and collaborating with our office team. Because of that, she has become a member of our family and an extension of her clients’ families. She also provides honest feedback when it comes to a client’s change of condition so that we can ensure the client’s needs are being met.

Prior to joining Home Instead, Gloria was a CNA, and worked in nursing homes and group/assisted living facilities in Wisconsin and California.

In her spare time, Gloria likes to spend quality time with her family and grandchildren.

June 2020 | Kristie

Family is Kristie’s motivation. And that family-oriented spirit carries over to her caregiving. She understands that each client is someone’s family member. Treating them like they’re her own family, Kristie looks for creative ways to further connect with clients and make them happy, as well as rearranges her schedule to make time for everyone and strives to create a safe and healthy environment for her clients. In fact, clients continuously contact our office to request more visits from Kristie. Our team is blessed to have a CAREGiver like Kristie who can positively impact the lives of those she touches.

Outside of work, Kristie likes to spend time with her family; in fact, she recently became a grandma! She also enjoys birding at home and traveling to the western states.

May 2020 | Maribel

Since joining our team in December 2019, Maribel has been a constant display of Commitment and Selflessness, picking up additional shifts when she can and even offering to drive to any of our nearby cities and towns at any time of the day to help. When a 24/7 hospice client was signed on a Saturday, we immediately called Maribel, and she agreed to stay with the client for two days straight.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Maribel has been in the U.S. since 2015. She and her husband have twin boys, who interestingly have separate birthdays. In her spare time, she sells jewelry, gardens, cooks and watches movies.

April 2020 | Dawn

Dawn served as a CAREGiver from 2015 to 2017 and has been back with us since June 2019. Then and now, Dawn is a consistent display of quality caregiving. Her main goal is to make sure her clients are comfortable and receive the proper care. To that point, she always notifies the office if a client experiences any changes in condition, even making recommendations that can help the family.

Outside of work, Dawn likes to surf the Internet, listen to classic rock and root for the Green Bay Packers.

March 2020 | Patty

Willing to go above and beyond, Patty is frequently seen taking on a new client, cross training another CAREGiver or even picking up additional shifts with current clients to ensure they receive the best care. When caring for her clients, if she senses that even the slightest thing is awry, she is quick to call the office to provide an update and help to achieve a resolution.

At home, Patty reads, crochets and gardens. She also enjoys practicing CrossFit® and yoga.

February 2020 | Jim

By going above and beyond, Jim has made a real connection with his clients, even taking time to get to know them personally. He has even found new ways to engage them in mental activities, particularly by bringing books and games along on his shifts.

Jim is also one of the kindest people you will ever meet. Being soft spoken and honest, he’s able to gain the trust of his clients.

Outside of caregiving, Jim spends time with his wife, Nancy. He enjoys vegetable gardening and decorating, both indoors and outdoors; listening to country-Western music; and learning about history.

January 2020 | Kelly Ann

Kelly Ann is committed to providing the best care possible. She demonstrates that by keeping the most detailed log notes and notifying the office of anything out of the ordinary; she understands that this affects other CAREGivers who enter the homes and, in turn, impacts the level of care the clients receive.

Understanding that aging comes with challenges, Kelly Ann is patient and respectful when clients need more time, and she gladly stays longer to assist in those situations. When she’s not filling a shift, she frequently notifies the office that she is available to pick up additional hours if a client need arises.

Kelly Ann likes to hike, bake, cook and participate in water activities.
