Home Instead Bowling Green Veterans CareHere at Home Instead Senior Care, we proudly care for our Veterans every day. We believe that our commitment to caring for their needs is one of the most important ways we can show just how much we appreciate their service to our country and protecting our freedom.

1 in 3 seniors in this country is a veteran or surviving spouse of a veteran.

These heroes – our fathers, mothers, spouses, and friends – may be eligible for a unique benefit through the VA called “Aid and Attendance.” This benefit provides funding of up to $25,020 a year to help keep loved ones safe and comfortable with home care.

Millions of qualifying veterans and families go without Aid and Attendance – simply because of a lack of information or a lack of help.

Through our partnership with Veterans Care Coordination, we are able to assist qualifying veterans and their spouses to apply for and obtain the Aid and Attendance Benefit through the Department of Veterans Affairs to help cover their medical expenses, including Home Instead Senior Care services.

What makes this partnership unique is the fact that Veterans Care Coordination can offer interest-free loan assistance to clients that cannot afford the up-front, out-of-pocket expense that is required.

Who's Eligible?

  • Veteran, or surviving spouse of a veteran, who served 90 consecutive days of active duty with at least 1 day during a wartime period
  • Veteran did not need to serve overseas
  • Veteran/surviving spouse must have non-service connected medical condition which is not related to military service
  • Veteran/surviving spouse must require assistance with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing, eating, medication management and personal care
  • Veteran/surviving spouse can have up to $80,000 in assets based on age/marital status (excludes home and car)
  • Veteran/surviving spouse must meet the Medical Expense-to-Income Ratio (i.e., home care services in place prior to application can count as a medical expense)

"Choosing a service was overwhelming. I needed help with my mother living at home with me and I did not know where to turn. I was given several names of companies and after a couple weeks of research I first chose a cheaper company giving me exactly what I was paying for and I switched to Home Instead within a month. Home Instead did exactly what they agreed to do. I was so impressed with mom's caregiver. She always seemed to know what mom needed and tended to those needs as if she were her own mom. We used Home Instead for nine months and probably met 6 caregivers from Home Instead. They were all very attentive and I was comfortable with everyone that came to our house. I must also mention the attention staff gave to making sure I was aware of mom's well being. I am grateful for everything Home Instead did for me and for the loving care they gave my mom."

Edmond and Margaret have used the Aid and Attendance program through Veterans Care Coordination for the past three years.  Margaret says, “Our primary CAREGiver Kathleen does anything I want around our house.  I love her and think it’s a fine program.  We wouldn’t be able to receive services if the Aid and Attendance program didn’t pay for it.  I appreciate everything.”
