CareGiver Meeting Summary Learning About Parkinson's Disease
Gerry from the Parkinson's Support Group at Muhlenberg Hospital taught us a lot about this disease which has no cause yet identified and no cure. It had affected her husband, and she spoke from the heart as she talked about the importance of giving the medications on time for them to work and stressed the importance of learning as much as you can about it.

The first symptom is often the person moving only one arm when walking and a slower response time. She showed us a Medical Alert Card which stated "I have Parkinson Disease which could make me move slowly and have difficulty standing or speaking. I am NOT intoxicated (which is often suspected). An affected family can contact the National Parkinson Foundation on Bob Hope Road in Miami, Florida, telephone number 1-800-327 4545, for a bag of free info, card and bracelet.
