As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic continues to grow and evolve, we understand that this time is filled with many emotions. While a feeling of uncertainty might fill the world around us, rest assured that we at Home Instead Senior Care® are constantly monitoring the situation, following the guidance of health authorities and responding with actions to ensure we’re providing care in the safest way possible.

The health and safety of our clients, CAREGivers and staff are always our top priority. That’s why we are taking precautions and distributing clear communications aimed at minimizing the risk of contracting and spreading the COVID-19 virus, both in our clients’ homes and at our local franchise offices.

The following practices, foremost among them the reinforcement of personal hygiene including proper hand washing, have been adopted by our local teams:
  • Home Instead CAREGivers have always received specific training on reducing the risk of contagious illnesses, and we continue to revisit and re-emphasize this with our CAREGiver and support teams.
  • We provide constant, consistent communication to our CAREGivers, reinforcing the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO) guidance for preventing the spread of COVID-19.
  • CAREGivers and office personnel are being asked to stay home and quarantine themselves if they become sick.
  • On-site group meetings and events are being limited to comply with the concept of social distancing.
Because aging adults are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, we are implementing CDC best practices for prevention, as well as those listed above, and protocols to address a variety of outcomes that could occur.

Additionally, there are things that you can do to mitigate COVID-19 exposure to you and your family, including but not limited to:
  • Reduce your travel and time outside of your home.
  • Limit the number of visitors to your home.
  • Wash your hands frequently, for at least 20 seconds.
  • Disinfect commonly used areas and frequently touched surfaces.
  • Follow up with your health care provider if you have flu-like symptoms.
At Home Instead, we go to great lengths to provide the highest level of care for our clients, and this is no exception. Rest assured, we remain vigilant and will keep you informed as this situation continues to evolve.

This page is dedicated to sharing COVID-19 information with our clients and families. We'll be posting news stories, tips and official statements. Our goal is to keep you up-to-date as this situation evolves.
