In honor of Labor Day next week (can you believe the summer's almost over?!), we dedicate this blog to older workers. For a variety of reasons, there are now more workers over age 65 than ever. In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, by 2020 the number of workers age 65 – 74 is expected to increase by 83.4 percent over 2010 numbers.
At Home Instead Senior Care, we value our older CAREGivers for the life experience they bring to their jobs, as well as for their unique ability to relate to our clients. Many of our older CAREGivers decided this was the right second-act career for them after caring for a loved one. Others enjoy the flexibility that the job offers. Still, others have retired from successful careers in other fields and want to "give back." For some, it's all of the above.
Whatever the reason, our older CAREGivers inspire us every day by the compassion and perspective they bring to our profession, and the sense of meaning and purpose they find in their jobs. They are living their best life by helping others live theirs.
