  3. Nominate an Outstanding Senior Volunteer by March 15

There are two weeks left to nominate an outstanding senior volunteer in Arizona. The Salute to Senior ServiceSM program, sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care®, seeks to honor senior volunteers for the tireless contributions they make to their local communities.

According to research conducted by the Home Instead Senior Care® network, 52 percent of seniors volunteer their time through unpaid community service. Nearly 20 percent (one in five) of seniors surveyed started volunteering when they reached the traditional age of retirement – 65 or older. Furthermore, 20 percent of seniors who volunteer say that their community service is the most important thing they do.

Nominated seniors will be eligible for state and national recognition, and the national winner will be announced during Older Americans Month in May and will receive a $5,000 donation to their nonprofit charity of choice.

Nominees must be 65 years of age or older and volunteer at least 15 hours a month.  If you know of a senior who donates their time and talents to local schools, hospitals or other community organizations, nominate them today at www.SalutetoSeniorService.com. Nominations will be accepted through March 15. Nomination forms can also be requested at ckoehler@homeinsteadinc.com.

The nomination process takes just minutes and is a great way to say “Thank You” to our local seniors. Wouldn’t it be great if the Arizona winner was from our community?
