Sunday is Father’s Day - a day to honor Dear Old Dad.
Day this year happens to fall during Men’s Health Week? The best gift
you can give him is good health! Encourage him to look after their own
Home Instead Senior Care serving the Southeast Valley is pleased to join The Men’s Health Network and
organizations around the country in their mission to heighten the
awareness of preventable health problems and encourage early detection
and treatment of disease among men.
This week, we ask men or those who care for men to: • Review the Men’s Health Checklist and determine what health screenings they are due for.
• Call to schedule any necessary appointments. Remember, sometimes physicians book far in advance so it helps to plan ahead.
an open dialogue. According to the CDC, Women are 100% more likely to
visit the doctor for annual examinations and preventive services than
men. This may explain the sad fact that, on average, American men live
sicker and die younger than American women. By paying attention to
health complaints and possible warning signs, men have a better chance
at longer, healthier life.
• Maintain a healthy diet. We’ve all
heard about the guy who lived to a hundred and never ate a vegetable in
his life. Yeah, well, he’s a myth.
• Thirty minutes of exercise a
day helps keep the doctor away. Even if a man is bedridden, there are
exercises he can do daily to improve or maintain his overall health. If
he’s not bedridden, he can do even more.
