Hardworking, dedicated, and reliable are just three words that the staff here at the Daytona Beach Home Instead Senior Care office use when describing caregiver Jenifer Sisk. Staffing coordinator, Alicia tells me that she feels that Jennifer truly tailors herself to the needs of the client in every instance; no matter where she goes and regardless of the severity of the case she is a great fit. The entire team agrees that Jennifer is a delightful person and brings her best at any hour of the day or night. It's a complete joy to have her on our team.
Born right here in Daytona Beach, at Halifax Hospital, Jennifer Sisk has lived in Port Orange her whole life. She graduated from Spruce Creek High School and then went on to attend college here at the University of Central Florida where she obtained her Master's degree in teaching K-12th grade. Jennifer is very athletic and has a great interest in teaching athletics but has given more years to teaching Special Education courses because of the greater need for teachers in this field. Jennifer leads a very busy life. Not only does she work a full time schedule as a CAREGiver at Daytona Beach Home Instead Senior Care, she is employed for the City of Port Orange, and has taught at Spruce Creek High-School (the same one she had graduated from) for twelve years and although she is no longer full time there, she still helps out there where she can. She and her husband, JJ, have two sons. Her oldest son attends Embry Riddle University and plays on the school basketball team. Her younger son attends Daytona State and is the manager for the men's basketball team there. She and her family enjoy sharing their lives with a furry friend also, a dog named Bailey.
Jennifer is a people person, she loves to be around people and to be able to help them to make their lives more satisfying and safe. She tells me that caring just comes naturally. "I truly enjoy talking with, and laughing with my clients." Her work allows her to take the lead, lend a hand at bringing smiles and assisting people to be able to enjoy their lives again." Caring for others and sharing her heart adds many memorable experiences that bring others, as well as herself, much joy in life. Jennifer has many memorable experiences that have brought her much joy throughout her lifetime.
Drawn to a career with Home Instead Senior Care because of her deep rooted passion with working with elderly folks, she shared with me that her parents owned an assisted living facility. She grew up sharing her life and her heart with elderly folks. Her father had rebuilt their home to care for those that had come to live with them as they were in need of care and a place to call home. Jennifer loves that she had the ability of knowing home care with seniors at a young age. With so many to help and much to do, Jennifer spent much of her time giving a hand to her parents as well as keeping company and assisting with the client's needs. She tells me that she has so many fond memories of their clients at the facility. "I always found so much enjoyment in spending time just listening to the clients as they reminisced. They would talk to me about their families and share smiles over the memories as I assisted them with their daily needs."
She said that she absolutely loved the fact that her parents still had the facility when her own children were growing up. She appreciates that her boys then have known, helped, and spent time with seniors who have also been a great influence. Just as their mother, the boys benefited from time spent at their grandparents and the facility.
Jennifer appreciates that the time with seniors is precious as they have so much knowledge and experience with sharing the history that they have stepped through and witnessed within their life time. "Growing up in the facility environment taught me to respect and have compassion for others. I came to apply for work at Home Instead because I wanted to continue to make a difference in the lives of seniors." She values her job as a CAREGiver because it allows her to build relationships that are greatly needed and very important. "I always treat people like they are my own family, "she says with a smile.
Since coming to be part of our CAREGiving team in September 2013, Jennifer has been sharing her heart, sharing smiles, and giving her clients unwavering compassion and dedication. She has over 5,500 service hours and is at the top in skill level as a Level 3 CAREGiver. She has attended in-service training with Caregiver Learning & Development, Alzheimer's disease and other Dementias Care, Specialized Alzheimer's, and the Home Health Aide refresher. Jennifer feels that, "this profession lends itself to such great passion and trust that if I didn't like my job, then I wouldn't do it." Her words shine when she tells me that, "Home Instead Senior Care is a great company to work for. I have never ever, not even once, had a bad experience in all the days since I started working here." She adds that, "the office team helps to make working here wonderful; everyone in the office is so friendly and easy to work with. The communication between the office and the field employees is just awesome. I couldn't ask for better!"
