CAREGiving is What is in Her Heart

Venessia Daniels was born in Little Rock Arkansas, and moved here to Florida in 1995. Blessed with two wonderful daughters, who then added to the family joy by each having a beautiful daughter of their own. Venessia happily gets to enjoy her family and grandchildren as they grow up through the years because they all share a home together in Ormond Beach.

Here at Home Instead Senior Care, the Daytona Beach office, we were thrilled to welcome Venessia to the CAREGiving team in March 2015. She chose a career with HISC because she knows that the position of Caregiving is what is in her heart.  Right out of high-school she accepted a position at a nursing home, she knew right away that she was in the line of work that she enjoyed. She immediately stepped into taking care of the residents and liked to listen to them tell stories of their past life lessons and history.

Clients have called, and also have sent us letters of appreciation about how much they enjoy their time with Venessia. One client has stated that “I just couldn’t have asked for a better Caregiver. When the neighbors tell me how good I am looking, I tell them that it is all because I am being spoiled by the care that I receive from Venessia”.

Venessia takes the lead by enrolling in classes and in-service trainings that are offered on a monthly basis here at the Daytona Beach Home Instead Senior Care office. Currently she is attending the Specialized Alzheimer’s training course.  Other in-service training classes that she has previously taken are: Parkinson’s, Infection Control, MRSA and C-Diff, Professional Boundaries, as well as Depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Venessia tells me that everything is wonderful with her position at HISC. Smiling she tells me that it is the best job ever. In her words, “when it’s in your heart, the work as Caregiver comes easy.”  When asked to share something special, Venessia shared that “the one thing that I really like about this job is that I get to see the clients enjoy their lives again”. She helps them to hold onto their independence and really enjoys being able to share her heart and do fun outings with them.  She sometimes takes her clients on shopping trips and out to dinner. Venessia tells me that doing things with her client makes her happy and builds trust with her client and families who appreciate their time spent together as well.  When asked what she would change in her job, she tells me that “there is absolutely nothing that I can think of”!

Vennessia is very appreciative and humbled to be nominated as the Home Instead Senior Care August 2016 CAREGiver of the Month.
