Works at Bringing Joy and Happiness into the Lives of Seniors

Vickie Lawrence joined our Home Instead Senior Care family in July of 2012. Vickie describes herself as "a relocated attorney from the upstate New York area"!

Vickie is passionate about people, kids, and pets. Having had prior experience in elder care, she knew that she wanted to find a place where she could share her time, show compassion and support, and be involved. She remembers the joy that she felt when she was hired by Home Instead Senior Care in Daytona Beach. She was now getting the chance to give one on one care to a generation of society that is too many times forgotten!  The flexibility that this position offers, in her scheduling, allows her to help in other community outreach areas as well. Home Instead Senior Care offers services that allow Vickie to not only be empowered, but to also build trusting relationships, anticipate needs, and learn about her clients life story.

A memorable experience that always brings a smile to her face, is when meeting one of her clients for the first time, she asked him to tell her about himself. Vickie says, "He smiled the biggest smile as he proudly exclaimed, "I trained Generals."  Vickie tells me that reflecting back on why she likes her job, this is one of the memories that makes her smile every time."  She says that the greatest thing about working here at Home Instead Senior Care is that "she brings joy and happiness into the lives of her clients." She feels that seniors deserve as much happiness as possible after having worked so very hard throughout their lives. She also likes to cook for her clients whenever possible. She is a great cook and her position allows her the ability to share her heart through her cooking when she is scheduled with her day clients.

Vickie had a hard time coming up with anything that she dislikes in her position. She says she is a very reliable and responsible person, and therefore, the thing that she least likes about her job are the times when personal emergencies come up, or there is an appointment that requires her to change her schedule. She just had an emergency with her brother arise and disliked having to disrupt her client's routine over her personal life.

Vickie has a great relationship with the Home Instead Senior Care office staff. She loves the feeling of support and the commitment she receives from Kelsie and the scheduling team. "They take the time to build a relationship with us, the CAREGiver's, and they get to really know us so that they can match us up with the clients that we can relate to with our whole heart".

Vickie is looking forward to the upcoming Holidays as her son and daughter in law, who are in the service and stationed at Alaska, will be coming to visit. She shared that she is very excited to be meeting her eleven month old granddaughter, face to face, for the first time during the Holidays this year.

Home Instead Senior Care is honored to recognize, Vickie Lawrence, as our September 2015 CAREGiver of the Month!
