Improving the Quality of Life…

Junie St Jean can be described as hardworking, caring, and dedicated. Originally from Jamaica, Junie moved to Florida in 1984 along with her two daughters. Her hobbies include cooking, walking, and gardening.

Junie joined the Home Instead family in July of 2013. She was introduced to Home Instead Senior Care at a job fair she attended in Deltona. She had the opportunity to speak with Christine about the company and immediately become interested in joining HISC. Junie was intrigued that Home Instead specialized in home health care for the aging population. Having had previous nursing home experience, Junie made the decision to join Home Instead and transition to providing one on one care.  She stated that she enjoys working for the organization and interacting with the staff, whom she described as all being "very pleasant". She stated that "everyone is very personable and provides assistance whenever needed".

Junie shares her heart by telling amazing stories of her interaction with her current client who will soon turn 104. She shared "that it is a joy to be with my client, whom is very appreciative of all that I do for her. Mrs T is a pleasure to be around and I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to care for her". Junie says that she "loves being able to help seniors remain in their homes and to provide one on one care to her clients so that I can make their lives a little bit better". She stated that it's always amazing to be able to improve their quality of life. Junie continues with "I receive great satisfaction from being a CAREGiver and the fact that I am able to do what needs to be done to help my clients".

Junie takes the lead and is always seeking ways to increase her skill level and has completed our 2 part Specialized Alzheimer's series. She's also taken numerous in-services such as Diabetes and Meal Planning and COPD training. Junie builds trust with her clients by being reliable, responsible and by always being present.

I was honored to have the opportunity to present Junie's award to her during her shift and in front of her client. It was great to witness the interaction between the two of them and see her client smile from ear to ear.

The staff at Daytona Beach Home Instead Senior Care is honored to present to you, Junie St Jean  our choice as April 2017 CAREGiver of the Month.
