Crystal is originally from upstate NY but she relocated to sunny Florida over 30 years ago. She is an avid fan of the Florida Gators and the Dallas Cowboys. After working at assisted living facilities, where she was responsible for the care of 4-6 clients at one time, she discovered that her true passion in this field, was with the more personal, one on one care with clients. In June 2013, she applied to Home Instead Senior Care, seeking a position that allowed her to work with clients more closely. She wanted to be able to bond, to give more personal care and to do a great job for one person at a time. Crystal says that one of her dreams was to "care for her senior's while living at the beach!" As a CAREGiver, Crystal constantly shares her heart and builds trust, as she truly believes that clients should be treated as though they were "your own family, grandparent, or parent. "
When asked what she loves the most about her job, Crystal responded: "I love being able to take care of Seniors because I feel that they have done so much for all us in our lives today. I like to be able to give back to them". In fact, the only thing she dislikes about her job, are those times when she cannot give the client all that they need. She describes the relationship that she builds with her clients as a bond of trust, companionship, and support.
Crystal likes keeping her clients on track, on schedule, and well organized. She takes the lead by keeping the office staff informed with any changes, as she understands the importance of being observant and involved. Crystal has a way about her that keeps everyone involved with a particular client, the family and the Home Instead Senior Care Staff, informed and updated without over stepping her professional boundaries. Crystal stays professional but shares herself with the clients so that she becomes like a friend and not just an employee. Crystal builds trust with her clients and the office staff with her level of dependability and reliability. She has stated that she will gladly pick up extra shifts verses the client having to get a caregiver that is new to them. Clients have called the office and raved about Crystal, stating that they feel that they are "truly blessed" to have her come.
Crystal has had many memorable moments. One favorite client, whom she will never forget, was a small Italian woman who sadly now has passed. She weighed no more than 90lbs, and on numerous times throughout the day, she would wave goodbye and state that Crystal was dismissed. Since her passing, Crystal later ran into the clients' son and the sharing and retelling of this memory, of her dismissing the staff, allowed them both too share a laugh and smile in her memory.
