Congratulations MELCITE "MEMI" DIEUDONNE for being awarded St Augustine/Palm Coast CAREGiver of the Year for 2020!!!
Tell us a story that demonstrates the special relationship your CAREGiver nominee has with a Home Instead client.Melcite does not have a special relationship with a Home Instead client. She has a special relationship with ALL of her Home Instead clients. It is almost a guarantee that if Memi is assigned to a new client, she will be on their preferred list of CAREGivers, if not the one they try to get exclusively. Never do they ever have to call the office with concerns of the care that Memi provides. She is proactive and engaging in every home she goes to. Even the hardest won client’s cave to her engaging personality. Give an example of a time your nominated CAREGiver demonstrated exceptional leadership skills. It is often difficult at times to find CAREGivers who are willing to step up and be present on a consistent basis. Melcite is one of those rare people who demonstrates reliability, compassion, consistency, communication and integrity. She always has a smile and a kind word to say, and is well loved by her peers and her client's alike. We never hear negative feedback from Memi, her co-workers or her clients. She will greet you with a smile and a chuckle every time, even if she's not necessarily having the best of days. She leaves a lasting and positive impression on everyone she meets. It is an honor to recommend someone with such human and work ethic to be CAREGiver of the year. Describe a time your CAREGiver nominee went above and beyond for a Home Instead client. Melcite is an Overnight CAREGiver. She always has been and always will be. One year When working overnights for a client, the client’s husband unexpectedly passed away. Night shift at that time was no longer needed due to the client's circumstances, but to keep some consistency and normalcy in the client’s life, Memi disrupted her own schedule and went to day shifts for two weeks until the client's schedule returned to normal and she was able to resume regular services. A few weeks ago, Memi had been at a family event when she received a call from the office that one of the caregivers for a regular client had called off last minute. She dropped what she was doing at the family event and was with the client as soon as she could get there. “Don’t you worry, I’ve got this. I’ll be there.” Describe a time your CAREGiver nominee went above and beyond for your franchise office. There isn't just one specific time Melcite has gone above and beyond for the office. There are many. Consistently, week after week, she is there for her fellow schedulers and office staff. If a last-minute shift needs to be filled, she is always willing to step up. She will disrupt her own life in the care of her own clients, as well as those she has never met before. If a fellow caregiver needs to switch a shift, leave early or come in late, Memi is always willing to accommodate. We very rarely, if ever, hear the words "I can't" from her, and she has often been known to drop everything to be available to a client in need. On a regular basis, she has been known to call the office on her way home from a shift and tell them “I’m going home to sleep now, but if you need to put me in something you go ahead and do that and I’ll confirm it as soon as I wake up.” And every time, she will go in, confirm her shift, show up and be present.

She doesn’t mind staying late to wait for a client. She is always friendly and pleasant with both clients and co-workers alike. If we need someone to fill in, she’s always willing and accommodating to change. She is always willing to accommodate her client and their needs. She also helps her fellow caregivers with shift adjustments when needed. We never have to worry whether she will make her shifts. If she says she’s going, you know she is! She is a CAREGiver who has heart.
