CAREGiver of The Year Nomination

The Home Instead Senior Care-Edina office would like to extend our congratulations to CAREGiver Timothy Turenne for being nominated as a National Candidate for Home Instead Senior Care CAREGiver of The Year!

Tim was nominated for his outstanding service to Clients and his dedication to Home Instead Senior Care-Edina's mission of "Exceeding Expectations of Everyone we Meet"! Tim has worked for our office since 2012. His favorite part of working as a CAREGiver is having his Clients be so appreciative of the help and care he provides.

Congratulations on your accomplishment, Tim and THANK YOU for your dedication and service!

Long Term Care Insurance/ LTC Documentation

CAREGivers MUST complete charting notes for each shift worked with Clients who have long term care insurance- our documentation determines how and when Clients receive benefits from their insurance.

Remember to complete your charting before you clock out of your shift, return the completed notes to the office or use the Home Instead Senior Care office envelopes in the front of the Client Journal to mail the completed notes back to the office.

If you do not complete your charting notes, you will be required to report to the office immediately to complete them.

If you have questions about this policy or process, call Melissa. 952-929-5695. Thank you!

Communication Policy Reminder

CAREGivers are reminded to follow the Home Instead Senior Care Communication Policy.

Remember to contact the office when:

  • (*VERY IMPORTANT) When an office staff member contacts you, please respond back promptly, the way in which you were contacted, ie. phone voicemail, text or email. Waiting 2 or 3 days is not acceptable and does not meet Communication Policy requirements.
  • After you have worked your first shift with a new Client. Provide feedback about first shift.

  • ***If there is a change in your Client's condition, if they have a fall or need to go to the emergency room.

  • ***If YOU experience an injury or accident while on shift, call the office 952-929-5695 immediately. If it is after hours, make sure you follow the prompts to be connected to on-call.

  • If there is a request from your Client or their family member to change or alter your shift start or end time or to change the date of your scheduled shift.

  • If you will be late or if you need to leave early from your scheduled shift. CAREGivers are not allowed to go late to a shift or leave early without first calling the office to discuss change in schedule.

  • If you are sick and cannot make it to your shift, you must contact the office as soon as possible. If you have an injury or are running a fever of 100.4 or higher, you may be asked to check with your medical provider before returning to work. If your child is sick, please have an alternate plan for childcare in place, unless emergency situation arises and contact the office as soon as possible.

  • Contact the office AT LEAST once per month, even if your schedule does not change or if you do not have anything to report. Regular communication with the office keeps everyone in the loop and ensures a consistent team effort!

If you have any questions about this policy or any Home Instead Senior Care-Edina Policy, please refer to your Employee Policy and Procedure Handbook or call the office, 952-929-5695.

Alzheimer’s Prayer

(Author Unknown)

I remember you with my heart

And I do love you!

I can’t recall where I knew you

Who you were, or who I was

Maybe I grew up with you

Or maybe we worked together

Or did we bowl together yesterday?

There is something wrong with my memory

But I do know you, I know you, I know you

And I do love you

I know how you make me feel

I remember the feelings we had together

My heart remembers

It cries out in loneliness for you

For the feeling you give me now

When you leave

My mind will not remember that you were here

But my heart remembers

Remembers the feeling of friendship

And love returned

Remembers

That I am less lonely and happier today

Because you have come

Please, please don’t forget me

And please don’t stay away

Because of the way my mind acts

I can still feel you

I can remember you with my heart

And heart memory maybe…

Is the most important memory of all
