Owner Lois Etienne, an RN who worked almost ten years at Stevens Hospital's ICU, started Home Instead Senior Care in the greater Seattle area in 1996. She served on the Home Care Association of Washington's board for four years. She was the first President of the Washington Home Care Association, formed to give a voice to private duty agencies.

Supporting others, even outside of work, is who we are. In years past, this local office put one young man from Mozambique and another young lady from Kenya through college. We have supported local women and children's shelters. Lois also started a non-profit, Aging With Excellence, many years ago that gifts local low-income seniors during the holidays.

General Manager - Nikki has been around HISC since our doors first opened in 1996. She spent time as a caregiver, came into the office, worked every position from care coordinator to staffer and now she has become our General Manager, bringing that first-hand knowledge to the task of making sure that the office runs smoothly and efficiently.
"I need to get it right, because the smallest thing can completely change how we should best care for this individual. So I take it very seriously. But the bonus in our work is the stories; I really love the stories. These folks have some amazing life experiences to share, especially the many vets we serve."
Nikki knows the ins and outs of this family-owned business, having been raised in it. She is particularly skilled at handling the intricacies of the VA system and serving our VA clients.
Recruiting/Retention Coordinator - Mishaylla is the youngest member of our staff but she can work circles around most of us. She joined the team on a part time basis but when several key staff decided to move on, she moved to full time and accomplished what two people were doing before her. Her role as RRC has become very automated but she spends more time in the initial inteviews making sure that potential caregivers are a good fit for HISC.
She is also a full time college student and would like to be an elementary school teacher some day. She's passionate about music, the arts, animals and loves a good movie!
Client Care Coordinator - Linda came to work originally as a caregiver but her tender heart and professional background made her a perfect fit to introduce HISC to new families and clients. She has a depth of knowledge from originally caring for her own parents, then as a HISC caregiver, that can't be taught.
"It brightens my day to know that we will be able to take some of the burdens off of the family members. We are not just the client's advocate but we come alongside the family members as well. Awesome job!"
Linda has one of those attitudes that goes with the flow, always supportive of admin and co-workers and even still caregives when the staffer is in a real crunch. She loves a great bargain and uses those skills mostly for decorating...and she's pretty good at it!
Home Care Coordinator - Beck also came to us as a caregiver to begin with but we quickly learned how bright and capable she was AND she had a marketing history with several large national companies. She's fit in perfectly with the team and she's already making great relationships in the industry.
"I'm a people person so this is a dream come true job. But I also love helping people and HISC fills so many needs when a family is going through transitions."
We plan on keeping Beck forever if she'll have us!
Staffing Coordinator - Venetia has been working as an Activities Director for a couple Ret/Assisted living facilities but decided she needed something more on the administrative side. We keep her busy enough but she also has two young boys that keep her running...keeping her healthy and happy!

Accounts Mgr/Training Dir - Michele has been with HISC for over 10 years now! She applied for a part time job and she's never worked part time from day one. An invaluable member of our staff, she continues to take on new roles to move us forward.

Michele goes out of her way, always with a positive, 'can-do' attitude, to make sure that others are cared for, heard and their problems are solved. We couldn't do this without her.
Weekend On-Call - Lisa has been our main weekend on-call backup for several years now. The office may close at five, but we know our job doesn't stop there. Having a true 24/7 accessibility is one of the things that sets us apart.
