The town of Milford is located in Worcester counties. Milford was settled in 1662 and was originally the "Mill River" section of the town of Mendon. Milford was incorporated in 1780. In 1870 Milford was known for its pink granite, used for buildings throughout the US and Europe.
Today, Milford is home to the Milford Regional Medical Center. With a branch of the Dana Farber Cancer Center and an affiliation with University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Milford Regional provides both direct patient care and medical education.
Milford's access, just off of interstate 495, has made it an easy site for numerous large "box" stores which are utilized by the smaller surrounding towns of Milford.
