Maxine joined HISC in 2006 as the first CAREGiver for the Salisbury office. She soon added more duties, including office administrator, staffing coordinator, human resources, client care coordinator, recruiting and training. She has been the lead instructor for the Alzheimer's training program. She now manages the office in Salisbury and Concord responsible for all administration. She was a cardiology tech for 18 years in a hospital in MD. She enjoys writing and has authored a children's book, "Sheldon's Adventures In Heaven". She has two daughters, two stepchildren, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She loves that HISC is a business of the heart-where caring is everything!
Stacey Ostrom has been in the health care field for over 30 years. She began working in a nursing home in Kansas where she received her CNA and later relocated to North Carolina where she returned to school and received her CMA. She was on track to become an LPN but met the love of her life and decided to marry and start a family. Stacey was married for 20 wonderful years. She and their daughter had the opportunity to care for him until his passing in 2013. In July of 2015 Stacey began a new journey in life and decided that Home Instead Senior Care was a place she could call home.
Alicia came to Home Instead Senior Care in 2016 with 20 plus years in the medical field. Her postion entails scheduling and findling the "right fit" for each client and CAREGiver. She is orginally from Pennsylvania and enjoys returning to visit family and her new grandchild! Alicia is married with 3 children.
Karla joined Home Instead Senior Care in 2015 after retiring from her teaching job in Pennsylvania. Yes, she's a "Yankee," but she loves the North Carolina life, especially the beautiful weather! She was very happy to find a position as a Client Care Coordinator with HISC, where she can continue caring for others and meeting new people. As the mother of 5 children, "caring for others" comes naturally to her, so she welcomes the opportunity to set up quality care for her clients. Kenda Johns relocated to the Charlotte area from a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania five years ago. She has a Master’s Degree in Teaching and Curriculum and was a high school mathematics teacher for ten years. In 2017 she joined the staff at HISC as their Training and Records Coordinator. Communication, organization, attention to detail, leadership, integrity and compassion are the skills she developed as a teacher that allow her to be successful at HISC in her Caregiver training role.
Lou Dorton Shue, RN, BSN, MS joined Home Instead Senior Care in June of 2010. She has 40 years of experience in the nursing field. Most of her experience has been in nursing education with Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. She enjoys her work with HISC, especially working with the CAREGivers. Lou and her husband Jeb have two children. Lou enjoys tennis, bowling and playing golf!
Terri joined the Home Instead Senior Care family in December 2015. She enjoys meeting with new and existing clients and their families to set up their individualized plan of care. She has 20 years of nursing experience in areas of research, Case Management, RN Certified Diabetes Educator (providing training in insulin pumps, exercise/nutrition and medication management) and various private practice specialties. Terri’s goal is to continually look for various avenues to improve client care and maintain and monitor in-home safety.
