- In 2000, approximately 605 million people worldwide were 60 years and older. By 2050, that number is expected to reach 2 billion. 1
- In Germany, the current population is 82.4 million, with approximately 16.3 million seniors age 65+ (20% of the overall population). 2
- The projected senior population in 2025 will be 19.8 million. 2
- By 2025, the senior population will increase by 46.6%. 3
- The number of German seniors who need care will increase from 1.93 million to 2.94 million by 2020. Most of that care is being provided by family members. 4
- The current gross domestic product (GDP) per capita is $31,900. 2
