Melissa ‘Is Focused, Engaged’ on Providing Best Care

To be considered for the Home Instead® CAREGiver Cornerstone Award, an employee has shown he or she has gone above and beyond when circumstances clearly required it. Empathy and compassion are taken into account, as well as skill and wisdom for dealing with challenges.

Home Instead staff members agree Melissa Carroll has those qualities. In fact, they said Melissa embodies Home Instead’s guiding principles of  “Build Trust, Take the Lead and Share Your Heart.” Sometimes her performance seems to “fly under the radar” because of her quiet and humble nature, but Melissa is exceptional at her work with any client.

Furthermore, focusing on Home Instead’s training, processes and procedures of successful caregiving has helped Melissa achieve CAREGiver Cornerstone Award status.

  • CAREGiver Experience Manager Brooke Childers said, “Melissa is incredibly engaged. In training, I have noted just how focused Melissa is, and how she applies the information to her clients’ needs and her caregiving style.”
  • Covington Operations Manager Amber Gay said, “Melissa is observant and attentive, having caught several medication mix-ups. She rises above what is normally expected.”
  • Client Care Manager Kayla Coleman said, “Melissa provides excellent care.”

Melissa, who has 10 years of professional caregiving experience and who also has served as a nonpaid family caregiver, joined Home Instead of Jackson on Sept. 25, 2020. Melissa’s work experience includes dementia care and hospice care.

In addition to her strong companionship skills involving dementia clients and hospice situations, Melissa provides safety assurance, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, and transportation and errands. Melissa and other CAREGivers offer personal assistance with eating, grooming, dressing, bathing, incontinence care, cognitive impairment and mobility assistance. By expertly doing so, CAREGivers not only assist their clients, but help their families eliminate worry, reduce stress and re-establish personal freedom.

Melissa loves being a part of the CAREGiver team for the West Tennessee franchise that has offices in Jackson and Covington. Bryson and Linda McQuiston own the award-winning franchise that is a member of a highly successful network founded in 1994 in Omaha, Nebraska. The Home Instead network is the world’s leading provider of in-home care services for older adults, with more than 1,200 independently owned and operated franchises that provide more than 90 million hours of care annually throughout the U.S. and 13 other countries.

Melissa is among more than 100,000 CAREGivers worldwide, and she has helped add to those numbers because of her strong belief in Home Instead’s purpose and core values. Those core values are: Honor God in all we do; Treat each other with dignity and respect; Encourage growth in ourselves and others; Build value in our service to others.”
