Clarksville March 2021 Client & CAREGiver Spotlight - Danny and Laura
Meet Laura, and her caregiver Danny, our March Client and CAREGiver Spotlight. Laura says that out of high school she wanted to learn about life and how to be a successful adult. Laura is originally from Georgia and moved to Tennessee in the late 1980’s for a fresh start. She has lived in various cities throughout the state and enjoyed each one of them. Laura and Danny have similar backgrounds, and she thinks that is part of the reason that they get along so well. Danny assists Laura with cleaning, dishes, and helping her to organize each room of her home. Laura says that they go through each room to de-clutter and take the items that she no longer needs to be donated. Danny assists Laura to her doctor’s appointments, and occasionally they stop for lunch and sit at the park to take in some fresh air and watch the river. Laura says that Danny has a very similar personality to her own daughter, and they have the same sense of humor. Recently they tried to be more active and take the dog for a walk, however the dog had objections. Danny went out and got a harness for her dog to be more comfortable so that they can hopefully try again soon. Danny and Laura both enjoy gardening, and they have been spending time repotting Laura’s plants when the weather is nice.
Laura really enjoys the time she has with Danny and says, “Danny takes initiative. She is spunky, upbeat, and I like that she sometimes puts a fire under my butt so that we can get things accomplished. With my medical conditions it can be easy for me to stay down once I feel down, but Danny encourages me not to be too complacent.” We are so proud of the relationship between Danny and Laura and are happy that Danny helps Laura live at “Home Instead”.
