Paul Hogan, Chairman & Co-Founder and Lori Hogan, Co-Founder

Paul Hogan, Chairman & Co-Founder and Lori Hogan, Co-Founder

In 1994, Paul and Lori Hogan co-founded the Home Instead Senior Care® network. On June 1st of that year, they began operating the company out of an office in his mother's home with one desk and one computer. With the perspective of 16 years, it is evident these comparatively humble beginnings laid the foundation for a great senior home care company.

Since 1994, their leadership has helped take the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network from one franchise in Omaha to more than 900 worldwide. The brand is now the undisputed international in-home elder care leader, and its momentum and growth continue unabated. "We didn't invent the idea of senior care, since it's been around in families or other forms for generations," Paul said. "But we did start the non-medical senior care industry." Lori agrees: "We've taken one of the oldest 'businesses' -- senior care, which people have always done -- and turned it into something that people could make into a career," she said.

Paul's move in June 2010 from CEO to Chairman was intended to create a more robust leadership structure and develop a succession plan to insure Home Instead Senior Care thrives into the future. The change according to Paul, "Contemplates the growing worldwide scope of the Home Instead organization. We will now have more top management capacity to assimilate what is happening outside the industry, with what is impacting our business on the inside."

In 1985, prior to starting the Home Instead Senior Care venture, Paul began his franchising career with Merry Maids; he remained with the company until founding Home Instead Senior Care in 1994. From 1987 to 1994, Lori owned and operated Classic Empressions, an Omaha modeling and self-development program for pre-teen, teenage and adult women.

Paul, who was born in Norcross, Georgia, but grew up in Omaha, holds a Bachelor's degree in business (specializing in finance) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Lori was also born in Georgia -- at Fort Benning -- and grew up in Omaha. She holds a Bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
