A Team with Home Care Vision

Paul and Lori Hogan, Co-Founders

In 1994, Paul and Lori Hogan co-founded Home Instead Senior Care. They began operating the company out of an office in his mother's home with one desk and one computer. Today, it's evident that these humble beginnings laid the foundation for a great senior home care company.

Paul, who was born in Norcross, Georgia, but grew up in Omaha, has a Bachelor's degree in business (specializing in finance) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Lori likewise was born in Georgia - at Fort Benning - and grew up in Omaha. She has a Bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.

In 1985, Paul began his franchising career with Merry Maids and remained with the company until founding Home Instead Senior Care in 1994. From 1987 to 1994, Lori owned and operated Classic Empressions, an Omaha modeling and self-development program for pre-teen, teenage, and adult women.

The leadership of this visionary team has helped take the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network from one office in Omaha to more than 800 locations worldwide. Over the years, Home Instead Senior Care has become the undisputed global in-home eldercare leader, and its momentum and growth continue unabated. "We didn't invent the idea of senior care. It's been around in families and other forms for generations," Paul says. "But we did start the non-medical senior care industry." Lori agrees. "We've taken one of the oldest concepts - senior care, which has always been done - and turned it into something that people could make into a career."

In December 2005, Paul changed roles, from President to CEO, to help keep Home Instead Senior Care at the forefront of the global senior care industry, and to enable him to play a larger part in guiding and impacting industry-related legislation. In his words, as CEO, he will concentrate "more of his energies and efforts on developing the senior care industry and the Home Instead Senior Care brand."

Roger Baumgart, President

Roger Baumgart was named President of Home Instead Senior Care on December 1, 2005. In this position, he provides strategic leadership for the world's first, largest, and most respected in-home senior care franchise network. In addition, he oversees all aspects of Home Instead, Inc.'s day-to-day operations.

Roger brings a lifetime of small business, entrepreneurial, and franchise experience to his senior care work, having learned franchising during a five-year stint with Mail Boxes Etc. In addition, he has served as the Vice President of Operations for a Midwest grocery store chain. He also has owned and operated an Omaha grocery store, during which time he was elected President of the Nebraska Retail Grocers Association.

During his career at Home Instead Senior Care, Roger has held key leadership positions, including Vice President of Support and Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. With an unequalled understanding of Home Instead Senior Care's business, he is a sincere and charismatic leader who consistently demonstrates the highest personal and business integrity.

John Hogan, VP Strategic Business Development

As Chief Operating Officer, John Hogan explores ways in which Home Instead can remain innovative in business operations, growth and profitability. He started his career with Home Instead Senior Care in 1995, as the manager of the Omaha location when it was the company's only franchise. Since then, John has served as Franchise Training Manager, Vice President of Operations, and Vice President for Training and Technology, taking over as COO in 2005.

His prior franchising experience includes a two-year stint as owner and operator of a Merry Maids franchise in Atlanta, Georgia, in the early 1990s. While he has believed in the Home Instead Senior Care mission from the beginning, John feels there's more to the company's phenomenal success. "Our business is all about people - top to bottom and side to side - and the personal relationships throughout our senior care network are the key to our success."

Jeff Huber, Chief Administrative Officer

Chief Administrative Officer Jeff Huber joined Home Instead Senior Care in 1998 as Franchise Development Manager when the company was a 125-franchise network. During his time with Home Instead Senior Care, Jeff held the positions of Chief Development Officer and Vice President of Franchise Development. Over the years, he's presided, either directly or indirectly, over the sale of more than 650 additional franchises and supervised the company's expansion into fourteen countries. Jeff sits on the management team with broad responsibilities, overseeing Finance, Human Resources, Legal, Standards, and Organizational Initiatives.

An attorney by training, Jeff graduated from the Creighton University School of Law in 1994 and also holds a Bachelor's degree from Creighton in English literature. "It's so rewarding to see people achieve the dream of owning a business," he says of his years at Home Instead Senior Care. "This is especially true in Franchise Development, when you help people make that 'leap of faith.' When they succeed in this business -- one that provides such a service to the community -- everyone reaps great rewards."

Scott Dingfield, Chief Marketing Officer

Named Chief Marketing Officer in September 2007, Scott Dingfield oversees Home Instead Senior Care's marketing, public affairs, communications, and strategic alliances activities. He started with the company in 2001 as Marketing Manager. In 2004, Scott was promoted to Director of Marketing and Communications, a position he held until being named Vice President, Marketing and Communications in 2005.

Today, Scott's departments are responsible for generating prospective franchise owner leads and developing strategic alliances with companies and organizations that further the global mission of the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network. He is also responsible for building brand awareness; leading internal and external communications; and generating media awareness related to eldercare issues. "I came to Home Instead Senior Care because I wanted to work somewhere that has a real meaning for the world," he says. "I love the mission of the company and know that we're impacting the lives of seniors around the world. It's very rewarding, and I feel truly blessed to be here."

David Banark, Vice President of Franchise Support

As Vice President of Franchise Support, David Banark oversees Home Instead Senior Care's franchise support functions throughout the U.S. and North America. Before coming to Home Instead Senior Care, he worked as General Manager for Metro Medical Transportation in Omaha - an experience "that showed me the value of small business and franchising," he says.

David has 10 years of home care experience with Home Instead Senior Care, having started in 1998 as General Manager of the very first franchise in Omaha. He subsequently moved to the International Home Office to serve as Franchise Support Manager and then as Vice President for Franchise Support for the East region before assuming his current role with the company in January 2006.

David sees a tremendous global future for Home Instead Senior Care, thanks to its eldercare services and its people. "With the population on the front edge of the age wave, there's really great potential here. Home Instead Senior Care has a strong culture of people with a shared sense of mission: serving seniors across North America and around the world."

Lonnie Hertzel, Vice President of Operations

Named Vice President of Operations in 2007, Lonnie Hertzel previously served Home Instead Senior Care as Vice President of Training and Technology since January 2006. He has owned and opened three different franchises, two with Merry Maids and then a Home Instead Senior Care business located in Atlanta. He and his wife Genevieve operated the Atlanta senior care franchise for four years until Lonnie returned to Omaha to join our International Home Office staff as Training Manager in 2000.

Lonnie applies his 18 years of franchising experience to three critical areas: franchise owner training; development and implementation of technology to support franchise operations; and oversight of the PerforMax business management program. In addition, Lonnie is responsible for supporting the operations of the original Home Instead Senior Care franchise in Omaha.

Also having served as Vice President of Western Support, Lonnie derives particular satisfaction from supporting others in the Home Instead Senior Care network, saying, "I've always enjoyed assisting franchise owners, colleagues, and staff members in envisioning better, more satisfying futures for themselves."

Yoshino Nakajima, Chief Development Officer

Yoshino brings with her considerable experience in franchising, having served as a master franchisee for Blimpie's sandwich shops in Poland. She also belongs to the Global Marketing Committee for the International Franchise Association.

When asked why she joined Home Instead Senior Care, Yoshino says, "I'm traveling all over the world because, in my heart, I always wanted to take care of my parents. When I found out about Home Instead Senior Care, I immediately wanted to bring it to Japan and around the globe."
