A Team with Home Care Vision
Lori and Paul Hogan, Co-Founders
In 1994, Paul and Lori Hogan co-founded Home Instead Senior Care. On June 1 of that year, they began operating the company out of an office in his mother's home with one desk and one computer. With the perspective of 13 years, it is evident that these comparatively humble beginnings laid the foundation for a great senior home care company. Since 1994, their leadership has helped take the Home Instead Senior Care franchise network from one franchise in Omaha to more than 800 worldwide. The company is now the undisputed global in-home elder care leader, and its momentum and growth continue unabated. "We didn't invent the idea of senior care, since it's been around in families or other forms for generations," Paul said. "But we did start the non-medical senior care industry." Lori agrees: "We've taken one of the oldest 'businesses' - senior care, which people have always done - and turned it into something that people could make into a career," she said. Paul's move in December 2005 from President to CEO was intended to help keep Home Instead Senior Care at the forefront of the global senior care industry, and to enable him to play a bigger role in guiding and impacting industry-related legislation. In his words, as CEO, he will concentrate "more of his energies and efforts on developing the senior care industry and the Home Instead Senior Care brand." In 1985, Paul began his franchising career with Merry Maids; he remained with the company until founding Home Instead Senior Care in 1994. From 1987 to 1994, Lori owned and operated Classic Empressions, an Omaha modeling and self-development program for pre-teen, teenage and adult women. Paul - who was born in Norcross, GA, but grew up in Omaha - has a Bachelor's degree in business (specializing in finance) from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Lori likewise was born in Georgia - at Fort Benning - and grew up in Omaha; she has a Bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
Roger Baumgart, President Roger Baumgart was named President of Home Instead Senior Care on December 1, 2005. In this position, he provides strategic leadership for the world's first, largest, and most respected in-home senior care franchise company. During his career at Home Instead Senior Care, Roger has held key leadership positions including Vice President of Support, and Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. He brings a lifetime of small business, entrepreneurial, and franchise experience to his senior care work, having learned franchising during a five-year stint with Mail Boxes Etc. In addition, Roger has served as the Vice President of Operations for a Midwest grocery store chain; he also has owned and operated an Omaha grocery store, during which time he was elected President of the Nebraska Retail Grocers Association. Home Instead Senior Care CEO Paul Hogan describes Roger as "a sincere and charismatic leader positioned to exercise strong leadership skills - including an unequalled understanding of our business - while consistently demonstrating the highest personal and business integrity."

His franchising experience also includes a two-year stint as owner/operator of a Merry Maids franchise in Atlanta, GA, in the early 1990's. While he has believed in the Home Instead Senior Care mission from the beginning, John believes there's more to the company's phenomenal success. "Our business is all about people - top to bottom and side to side - and the personal relationships throughout our senior care network are the key to our success."
