My name is Wriston Marshburn and my wife is Catharine Marshburn. We are proud to own the Anderson, South Carolina (SC) Home Instead Senior Care® office. We opened this business because we were looking for a way to positively impact the lives of others. We believe that we can do this in Anderson and the surrounding areas by providing home care services to seniors so that they can remain independent as long as possible.
We are both originally from North Carolina. I have been a lawyer in Winston-Salem, practicing in product liability litigation. Catharine home schools our children, ages 12 and 9. I went to college at Furman University, so opening a Home Instead Senior Care office in Anderson is a return to the Upstate for me. Catharine's parents live in Beaufort and her brother went to Clemson, so she also has ties to SC and the Upstate.
I had felt for some time that I was not helping people enough in my law practice, so Catharine and I began to look at businesses that would support our family and at the same time allow us to help others. We found out about Home Instead Senior Care through friends who knew the owner of the Winston-Salem office. We learned that Home Instead Senior Care is in business to help a growing senior population stay safe and as independent as possible in their homes or care communities. I spoke to many Home Instead Senior Care owners throughout the North and South Carolinas, who all told me that that their clients thanked them often because Home Instead had provided them with such a needed service and had made a really positive difference in their lives by allowing seniors to remain independent and giving peace of mind to families who knew their senior loved ones were not alone.
Catharine and I have also had our own experiences that showed us what a need there is for quality home care for our senior loved ones. Catharine's grandfather began to live in her family's home when she was in high school and eventually had caregivers providing him with round the clock care. Catharine saw what a blessing it was for her family and the caregivers to be able to assist her grandfather and keep him company. She also saw what a relief it was to her family to know that her grandfather was not alone and had a friend to be with him all the time.
My own parents moved back to their hometown of Swansboro, NC to be near and provide assistance to my grandparents in their golden years. My parents have considered hiring a caregiver so that they feel good during times when they cannot be with my grandmother.
Through our desire to help others and our own experiences with our grandparents, Catharine and I decided to open our own Home Instead Senior Care office in Anderson SC. We chose Anderson because we like Upstate South Carolina, because we feel there is a need for quality senior care here, and because we felt that God led us here.
It is our goal to provide the best home care and services available to the seniors of the Upstate.
