Community involvement is extremely important to the entire staff at Home Instead Senior Care in Alexandria/Detroit Lakes/Fergus Falls/Park Rapids/ Wahpeton-Breckenridge. Our office has participated in the Be a Santa to a Senior program. Working with local representatives, we arrange and deliver donated gifts to seniors in the community who do not have family close by for the holidays. We also participate in and obtain sponsors for the annual Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk. Our newest community program is Operation Medicine Cabinet, where our staff works with local law enforcement and pharmacists to help residents dispose of unwanted or expired medications properly.
In addition to our annual programs, the staff of Home Instead Senior Care is provides presentations on a program entitled "The 40/70 Rule." This class is designed to help adult children and their aging parents deal with sensitive aging issues like driving, independence, and other lifestyle changes. Our staff regularly speaks on other topics, including how to make sure seniors are safe in their homes, ways to keep mentally fit, and the stresses of family caregiving.
