A Tradition of Great Caregiving

At Home Instead Senior Care, we reward our local CAREGivers with CAREGiver of the Month and CAREGiver of the Year awards to show our appreciation for all they do. Home Instead, Inc. also recognizes regional CAREGivers of the Year and one special CAREGiver who shows exceptional dedication is the recipient of the national award — The Mary Steibel CAREGiverSM of the Year Award.

This program inspires CAREGivers to strive for excellence. It creates a sense of pride in the fact that the Home Instead Senior CareSM franchise network recognizes, appreciates and rewards their hard work, compassionate care and service to others.

Kathleen Nuss - November 2011

Kathleen is our caregiver of the month for November. She came to us from our Lansing office, and they were sorry to lose her. Since working with us, we now know why. Kathleen follows all office procedures and keeps us informed of changes in her client’s conditions. Her caring ways have recently been demonstrated with a hospitalization of her client. She frequently visits her on her own time to encourage her and help her to eat to regain strength.

Candace Murusidze - October 2011

Candace is our caregiver of the month for October. She has shown herself to be a reliable, talented, and a caring person with her recent client. She treats our clients with dementia and physical needs as one of her own. Candace not only continues to impress us, but the family and the assisted living community in which she works as well.

WAY TO GO CANDACE!

Lois Glover - September 2011

Lois has given wonderful quality care to a client of ours since December 2008. She provides companionship, shopping, and errand trips. Her main goal is to encourage the client who was losing weight to eat properly; we are happy to report that she has put on a few pounds as a result. As one of our weekend supervisors, she deals with each call properly and has even gone to cover a shift or two herself. Thanks for your calm care

JoAnne Baalaer - August 2011

JoAnne is being recognized for her consistent quality care. She is currently working with a client that has dementia and delusions. This client looks forward to her visits everyday and she has been the only one that can bathe her. As a temporary placement in some of our jobs, she readily assumes the responsibilities of the job. She engages with the clients and makes them feel at ease. JoAnne, thank you for all of your hard work.

Tammy Shelton - July 2011

Tammy has been a wonderful caregiver to all of the clients she has assisted. Since coming on board with Home Instead in April of last year, she has worked for several clients. Her first client was a dementia patient who looked forward to seeing Tammy at every shift. The client’s husband was most grateful for the assistance she rendered his wife. Tammy’s kind, gentle and caring ways with her clients, makes them feel safe and happy to be at home with her. A client’s daughter said to us yesterday, that she was happy to have Tammy with her father; she feels that her dad is in good hands while Tammy is there. It takes a lot of stress off her. Thank you Tammy for being the great person you are and doing such a wonderful job for us and the clients you help!!

Kimberly Flournoy-Lee - June 2011

Kimberly has been with us for almost 2 years now. She started with a client right after she came on board and is still with that same client today. All of the client’s children live out of state so Kimberly is there 5 days a week to help her with everything from meals to bathing. The family is quite grateful for everything that Kimberly does to help their mother. She is their eyes and ears! Kimberly is very kind and compassionate and takes a lot of pride in her job as a caregiver. Thank you Kimberly for your dedication. We feel blessed to have you on our team!!!

Carol Muhaw – May 2011

Carol, while fairly new to the Home Instead family, has been a welcome addition. Her caring and kind heart makes her the type of caregiver every client would be lucky to have. Her current client is very thankful to have Carol on the weekends. She loves going to church and out to eat, and before Carol was there, she wasn’t able to do that. She makes a difference in the lives of the client(s) she helps. Thank you Carol for doing such a wonderful job and being the kind of person that you are. We are so glad to have you on our team.

Sheila Palazzolo - April 2011

Congratulations Sheila on being caregiver of the month for April! Sheila has been with us for almost 3 years now and has done a fabulous job at caring for her clients and making sure that she calls in her hours at the beginning AND end of every shift she does! Sheila is very compassionate and kind with her clients. One of her client’s daughters once told us that she feels comfortable knowing Sheila is with her mom and her mom is safe. Her client enjoys having Sheila around and looks forward to every visit they have together. All of Sheila’s clients are very blessed to have her helping them!

Halina Sundling - March 2011

Halina has been part of the Home Instead family for just over 2 years. She has taken the time to further her education by taking our Alzheimer’s class and our Personal Care classes. These have certainly aided some of her clients. Halina has a very caring and kind attitude towards her clients, which makes them look forward to seeing her at every shift. She has always been willing to pinch hit and help out filling shifts for other caregivers, sometimes at a moments notice. Thank you Halina or all that you have contributed.

Joyce Martin - February 2011

Joyce has been a welcome addition to our staff. She has demonstrated her expertise in caring for our clients. Her humor has engaged clients to help them deal with their health issues. Joyce takes the time to introduce activities to her clients that truly stimulate them and work towards better health. In the short 5 months Joyce has been here, she has made a huge impact on the staff and the client’s she serves. Thank you for your caring ways, Joyce!

Fran Viscomi - January 2011

Fran has been with us for over 2 years now. With her sweet disposition and pleasant demeanor, her clients look forward to seeing her at every shift. She always is timely and calls her hours in and out for every shift. When called upon to help out with a shift, Fran is more than willing to pitch in when she can. Home Instead Senior Care is a far better place for having such a wonderful person, such as Fran, on our staff. Thank you and keep up the great work!!

Vannessa Fuggerson - December 2010

Vannessa has been a part of the Home Instead family for over 3 years now. She was one of the first caregivers that we hired and thought would be a wonderful asset to our company. She is a very caring and nurturing person that goes out of her way to make her clients feel at ease, in any situation. Vannessa has a strong faith belief and I think that helps her get through some of the situations that may arise when with a client. Vannessa had a client, Mr. J., who had stopped service because he was doing better. When the time came that he needed service again, he specifically asked for Vannessa. He loved being around her. Thank you Vannessa for all that you do for our clients, you are one in a million!!

Laurie Marks - November 2010

Laurie has been with Home Instead Senior Care since August 2009. Laurie is a very kind and considerate person. She took the time out of her busy schedule and rallied some of her neighbors to donate food for one of her clients that was in need. She goes out of her way to help with any shift that is necessary, and with 3 clients that keeps her busy!! Laurie has a warm heart and truly loves working with the seniors. One of her clients was very resistant to help, but Laurie was able to get in there and make her feel comfortable with having somebody around to assist her. Thank you Laurie for everything you do and you truly are a gift.

Kimberly Ebben - October 2010

Kimberly has worked for Home Instead Senior Care since June of 2010.  While she has not been here long, she has made a great impression on our office.  Kim readily accepted midnight shifts with our client, even though it was not her preference.  She has been reliable on her job and has often demonstrated flexibility to cover changes in shifts.  She is truly one of our team players.  Kimberly has a soft, gentle approach to her client in spite of a previous career as a police sergeant in Denver!!  Just kidding, Kim, and please accept our thanks for a good job and having such a big heart.

Norma Ibronke - September 2010

Norma came to our office from the San Francisco Home Instead Senior Care office in February 2010.  When she arrived, she brought many letters of reference with her including recognition of being Caregiver of the Year for 2007 in California.  Since starting to work for us, we can certainly understand those letters and why others speak so highly of her.  Norma is dependable, energetic and easily assumes the responsibilities of her jobs.  She is excellent at projecting  a certain calmness with her clients to make them comfortable with a new relationship.  We are blessed to have her on our staff. Thank You Norma!!

Cheri Crater -August 2010

Cheri has been with us since April of this year. In the short amount of
time she has been with us, she has continued to demonstrate professionalism
in all that she does. She is flexible in filling in on shifts for us and is
diligent in calling in her hours for every shift. Cheri is a great spirit
and we are thankful that she is available to care for our clients. Cheri
has been a great asset to the Home Instead team and we continue to hear kind
and caring words about her from the clients she serves. Thank you Cheri for
a job well done and keep up the good work

Helen Itchue - July 2010

Helen is special to us in many ways. Her maturity makes her a good
conversationalist with our clients. When she works on her jobs, she is
always willing to pitch in on any needs she sees. Helen is very reliable
with her shifts and often is our "go to" caregiver in emergency situations.
We value her wisdom and can say "Good things do come in small packages!!!!!"

Annette LaFrance - June 2010

Annette is one of our night time caregivers and has worked on several
difficult jobs since joining our staff. She is quite skilled and
comfortable working on these jobs. Her compassion towards her clients does
not go unnoticed by the families. She has also been very flexible in
filling in shifts and is very reliable in handling her own shifts. We are
grateful to have her with us.

Joyce Curtale - May 2010

Joyce has been with Home Instead Senior Care since March 2008.  She has worked for her current client since February 2009 and provides quality care that is based on love.  Each shift she works comes with frequent hugs and kisses.  Special touches such as stopping to pick up the morning newspaper are the norm.  Joyce is a graduate of our Alzheimer’s training class and this has given her a solid foundation to work within her current job.  We are blessed to have her on our staff.  Thank you Joyce!

Lynn LaBranche- April 2010

Lynn has been with us since September 2009 and we are thrilled to have her on our staff.  She has worked for several clients with great success.  One of her clients says “Lynn is a life saver and we love her”.  That pretty much sums up how we feel at Home Instead about her.  One client who has had a number of caregivers says she is comfortable with Lynn.  She has a calming and capable demeanor and is very reliable.  Lynn is always on time and calls in her hours.  She generally keeps us updated on the jobs she works for us.  Thank you Lynn and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Ethel Mysierowicz - March 2010

Ethel has worked for our office since September 2009.  She is still working for the client she was initially placed with.  In the past months, her client’s health has fluctuated and requires constant adapting to new health concerns.  Ethel’s maturity and sense of calm make her a valuable asset to the job.  She has to balance care for her clients as well as interact with family members that are difficult at times.  Ethel is always willing to help out in a crisis situation.  We are blessed to have her on our staff.

Leevern Borders - February 2010

Leevern is our CAREGiver of the month for February 2010.  Her easy going, caring attitude has served her well in the care of her client.  She makes sure that he eats well and that his physical needs are met.  What makes her so special is that she has been able to draw out her client to have fun as well.  They joke together, listen to records, sing songs and take to the floor dancing!  Her interest in him has resulted in an improved quality of life and we are blessed to have her with us.

Audrey Kaufman - January 2010

Audrey has worked for our office since June 2009.  Her calm manner has been a wonderful asset in her current job.  She provides excellent care while letting her senior have privacy as well, helping her to maintain as much independence as possible.  She is faithful about reporting her hours or any concerns regarding our clients, to the office.  Audrey is always willing to pick up other shifts on her main job, as well as help out in a pinch on other jobs.  She can easily adapt to various seniors needs and we truly appreciate her work ethic.

Therese Miller - December 2009

Therese has been with Home Instead for 12 months. Therese comes to us as a seasoned CAREGiver from the franchise office on the west side of the state. Therese is reliable and flexible when shift changes occur. Her ability to recognize the needs of the seniors she serves has not gone unnoticed by us or the seniors. She is always on task and is a good cook and baker also! Thank you for all that you do, Therese.

Nina Garcia - November 2009

Nina has been with Home Instead for 10 months. Nina is a very skilled CAREGiver with many years in the healthcare field. She has worked on several difficult cases for us and has done a commendable job. Outside of her work for us, she is an avid computer programmer and is developing her own website.
