Brendan J. Battersby - Franchise Co-Owner

Brendan completed his bachelor's degree from Walsh College and has run several prosperous businesses over 30 years.  He brings with him a wealth of experience to contribute to the happy success of Home Instead Senior Care in Grosse Pointe Woods.

Experience caring for both his mother and father taught him the importance of in home care for seniors and the need for those services in the community at large.  Over the years through volunteer projects he has demonstrated a big heart for people in need.  He has volunteered and been a donor of distinction for Focus Hope.  Early on he was a kitchen volunteer with St. Patrick's Senior Center in the Cass Corridor and is currently a manager for Crossroads Soup Kitchen on Grand Boulevard in Detroit.  Brendan believes that it's important to give back to the community after all the blessings he has received.


Marian M. Battersby - Franchise Co-Owner

Marian received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Detroit.  She has worked in a clinical dental setting as well as holding management positions at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan.  She has also worked in different capacities with her husband, Brendan, in their businesses.

Caring for her mother in a hospice setting and the ongoing care of her father has shown Marian the importance of having good quality homecare on which to rely.  As a member of a large family she has personally experienced the turmoil that families can face in reaction to a loved one's crisis situation.  The challenges of her own personal life have made her a believer that Home Instead Senior Care can help to change the face of aging.

In addition to various networking groups, Marian currently is participating on the annual Senior Expo at Greek Assumption Church and recently coordinated Operation Medicine Cabinet with the City of Grosse Pointe Woods.

Darcy A. Mertoian - Operations Manager

Darcy has been working for the franchise owners for over 23 years and has always distinguished herself by superior customer service.  This has been a huge asset when providing assistance to our senior clients.  Typical feed back is "I Just Love Darcy".

Mary A. Smith - Staff Coordinator

Mary joined our office in September of 2008.  She brings with her an extensive customer service background, which compliments the communication she provides to our Clients and CAREgivers.

Lois Glover - Weekend on call supervisor

Lois Glover is a weekend on call supervisor for our office. Lois has worked for many different clients, including one that lived 105 years. She is calm, confident and an excellent baker and seamstress as well. We appreciate her work as a caregiver and supervisor.
