The Home Instead Senior Care family network of locally owned franchise offices was developed with a passionate desire to be your trusted source in helping your family keep your aging mother, father, grandparents or friends in their home as they grow older.
In the Grosse Pointes and other Eastern Suburbs you will find a locally owned and operated, growing home care business that began with the desire to serve the needs of our community's elderly adults.
Brendan and Marian Battersby started M.I.C.H., Inc. /d.b.a. Home Instead Senior Care after caring for their aged parents. They realized the immense pressure this care placed on their entire family. They dedicated their work to their parents and to honor them, named the company after them. M.I.C.H. is the first initial of their first names, (Mary, Ivor, Chris and Helen). "Ivor remains with us and we are actively involved in my fathers' care" says Marian.
The Battersbys' believe that they can be of service to families who struggle with too many responsibilities and too few hours in which to accomplish them. "I loved my parents but sometimes I couldn't be there, other family obligations were also on the table. We are from a big family so there was always someone to be there" says Brendan. "Home Instead was available in my parents' area, we just weren't aware of them".
The Battersbys' are passionate about the care they provide and feel that the help you need should come from someone you trust locally.
They are members of the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce and The National Private Duty Association. They are regular volunteers at SOC (Services for Older Citizens), and "Be a Santa to a Senior." Over the past several years this program has provided hundreds of gifts to seniors who otherwise would not have had a Christmas.
They hire only CAREGivers that will treat clients as if they were their own parents. Candidates are required to undergo a personal interview process, followed by criminal and motor vehicle background checks. We personally check all references to ensure quality in our CAREGivers ranks.
As a member of "Care Link" at St. John Hospital, we are regularly called upon to provide support for patients discharged from their various facilities. Home Instead also enjoys a growing reputation among other well known elder care facilities throughout the area as a reliable and trusted referral partner.
