2012 brought the Alzheimer's Association walk back to the North Olympic Peninsula in Sequim, WA. Home Instead raised over $500 and had 24 participants walk for Alzheimer's research. In addition Home Instead donated commemorative water bottles for each participant. In all, the ALZ walk in Sequim raised over $24,000 for Alzheimer's research. This program is designed to help individuals who suffer from a chronic condition, including diabetes, asthma, heart disease, chronic pain, arthritis, and hypertension just to name a few; to lessen their stress and frustration, manage symptoms, and deal with fatigue. Sandy Boughner, owner of Home Instead North Olympic Peninsula, is a Lay Leader for the workshops in Port Ludlow. The Sequim Senior Activity Center provides a community focal point for people to come together for services and activities that share valuable experience and skills, respond to diverse needs and interests, enhance health and dignity, support independence, and encourage involvement in, with, and for the community. March 24th, 2012 marked the 5th Anniversary of the Jefferson County Wellness and Safety Fair. Sandy Boughner, Home Instead Owner is one of the founding members of the event and intimately involved in every detail still today.
