I want to thank you so much for your attention to detail and let you know how very much we appreciate the flexibility of your staff. Every caregiver you have sent our way has been especially wonderful, professional and most of all caring. We find the caregivers easy to work with and enjoy their company as much as my mom does.

Our CAREGiversSM Are at the Heart of It All

Our CAREGivers are residents of the local area who are carefully screened, fully bonded and insured. Each takes part in our exclusive multi-phase training and we place a high priority on matching our CAREGivers with our clients to help develop a bond that will foster independence, promote well being and support the senior’s needs with respect and dignity.

Our Guiding Principles

To treat each other with dignity and respect
To encourage growth in ourselves and others
To build value in our service to others

Woody Shoemaker, Community Liaison

Woody is a native of Tulare, California. Tulare is the hometown of Bob Matthias, the two-time Decathlon champion, winning his first Olympic Gold Medal in 1948, at the age of 17. Woody’s great grandfather moved to California in 1910 and purchased a farm which is still in the family and is used to raise cotton. His great grandfather came from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where he bought vegetables from H. J. Heinz himself, as he pushed his wooden cart along the streets of Pittsburg selling his “57 Varieties”. Woody grew up swimming competitively and won the San Joaquin Valley championship in 1966. Being an accomplished swimmer enabled him to graduate the outstanding man in his U.S. Navy SEAL Team training class in 1969, and helped him fulfill his assignment with SEAL Team One in Coronado, California. Woody is a decorated combat veteran having served in Vietnam as point man for his platoon.
Upon his return from Vietnam Jesus Christ befriended him and traded him a Bible for his gun. He has pastored churches and worked with young people for many years.
Woody was married for 30 years and has 6 children. After his wife’s passing in 2007 he married Nancy, a widow from Fredericksburg with 9 children from her one marriage! Woody admires Home Instead Senior Care’s #1 value, “To honor God in all we do” and hopes to serve the Lord by caring for those who have cared for us--our seniors.
Allie Franks

Allie Franks

Allie was adopted from the Orange County SPCA in March of 2009.  A hunter found Allie in the woods on the previous Thanksgiving Day with one puppy beside her. Allie is a Labrador and Pitbull mix. Allie was 30 lbs underweight and was very shy of everyone. Her first few weeks in the office she would go out the door when opened and the receptionist would have to run, pick her up and bring her back. After a few weeks she started to settle in. We noticed that though her body and coloring is Labrador, her face has the Pitbull look so some would hesitate prior to entering the office.  After a while everyone got use to Allie here. Our local bank brings Allie dog treats in a money envelope and our part time receptionist brings her treats just because... Allie doesn’t bark but does make sounds of communication with you.  She is very affectionate. She gets along with people and other dogs. She is allergic to most everything. She is very good about taking gum, candy and anything else out of a caregiver’s purse when placed on the floor during orientation.  Allie attends all meetings and conferences. Allie takes Karl Karch, our owner, for a walk everyday. The owner, Roberta Karch makes her bandanas with her name on it. Allie stacks her toys by the front door hoping someone will play with her when they come in. Allie is a wonderful addition to the Home Instead Senior Care team as well as a family dog at home.  When her owner, Deborah travels, Allie stays with her grandmother who covers her up at night and occasionally hand feeds her. Allie has a great life! Please adopt a pet; you can change their life and yours.
