Home Instead Senior Care
Chicago

We were determined to give back to [our mother] in the same way we were cared for. That has been made possible by the caring and competent care we all receive from Home Instead CAREGivers. They are well informed about Alzheimer's Disease, and...let her do what she can for herself with dignity, but are there to silently step in and help when she needs a little direction.

History of Home Instead Senior Care of Chicago

Home Instead Senior Care of Chicago was established with one purpose in mind—to provide trusted, compassionate non-medical care to seniors in our great city. As the nation’s premier senior home care organization, Home Instead provides the training, resources and expertise to ensure each of our three Chicago offices are equipped to help families find effective solutions to their senior homecare needs.

History of the Chicago Downtown Office

Dr. Sam and Carla Robinson opened the Downtown office in 2004 and serve the Near West and South Side areas of Chicago. Sam and Carla witnessed the challenges of providing care for their aging great-grandmother, who lived part of each year with each of her three children in three different cities until she could no longer travel. When she became a permanent resident at her daughter’s home, over time the challenges of constant care resulted in caregiver burnout.

It was this experience that caused Sam and Carla to research senior home care service providers in Chicago to seek out the help needed to restore quality of life for all family members. Their inability to find any source of quality service prompted them to open the Chicago Downtown office for Home Instead. Their experience enables them to understand the needs of families needed senior home care and to tailor the right services for each situation.

History of the Chicago Northside Office

Susan Phelan opened the Chicago Northside office for Home Instead in 2004. Through personal reflection and outside counsel, she made the decision to leave a corporate job and look for a career opportunity involving greater service and compassion to others.

When Susan learned about Home Instead, she immediately recognized the immense value the organization provides to the seniors they serve, to their adult children looking for guidance and direction and to the CAREGivers seeking meaningful work.

Susan and her Chicago Northside team understand that while their focus is on serving a particular elder, their work equally involves service to the extended family of caregivers. Few of us have the experience or physical and emotional strength to deal with our parents aging on our own. The Home Instead team is available to provide the support and resources needed to find effective solutions.

History of the Chicago Gold Coast Office

Their experience includes health care management, human resources, customer service, and quality control. Jackie served as an Illinois Licensed Nursing Home Administrator, holds a Master's Degree in Human Resources from Chicago's Loyola University, and oversees staffing and bookkeeping.
