The Be a SANTA to a Senior program
is something that our whole office looks forward to every year. Currently we
just got into year six of doing the program and it is going to be bigger than
ever. It is the largest part of our Community
Involvement.
Last year we had the privilege of delivering over 1800 gifts to over 230 area
seniors. For the last five years we have based the program which serves Isolated
Seniors in the South of the River area from the Burnsville
Senior Center. This year we have partnered with the Faribault
Senior Center to serve the Seniors of Rice County as well.
This program is very near and dear to all of us here at Home Instead Senior
Care. It is so special to us because we deal with seniors every day. We provide
In-Home Assistance to Seniors. Our CAREGivers work with seniors to help them
stay independent in the comfort of their own homes. We Provide Services such
as: Companionship,
Home
Helper, as well as Personal
Care. Because of the work we do, we understand many of the issues that seniors
are facing. Seniors face many challenges as they age, from physical challenges
such as frailty and the risk of falling, to loneliness and isolation.
It is specifically with this in mind that Be a SANTA to a Senior program was
created. Christmas is such a Joyous Holiday. Every year for me it brings back
so many memories of wonderful times together with family. There is Great Music,
Great food, the presents, and even the snow. It just seems like it cannot get
any better than Christmas, but there are many seniors who face Christmas as
the LONELIEST time of the year. What for most is a great occasion to get together
with family, for them it is another reminder that they are ALL ALONE.
While there are many Gift Giving programs for children and families, seniors
are sometimes overlooked during the Christmas season. It is our sincere wish
to make help make this Wonderful time of Year special to Lonely and Isolated

How Be a Santa to a Senior Works
Home Instead Senior Care partners with local non-profit and community organizations
to identify seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season.
We then work with local businesses and retail stores to help facilitate the
purchase and distribution of gifts by placing trees and ornaments within their
various locations. Each senior's gift requests are written on a Be a Santa to
a Senior tree ornament.
1. Find the nearest Be a Santa
to a Senior tree location by using the form at the top of the page
2. Remove an ornament
3. Purchase the gift
4. Bring ornament and gift back to participating store and give to
store employee
