HOME INSTEAD SENIOR CARE
RECEIVES WEST COAST AREA AGENCY ON AGING AWARD
2011 Senior Friendly Business Award

TAMPA, FL (February, 2011) – Home Instead Senior Care has been awarded the first annual 2011 Senior Friendly Business of the Year Award, Small Business Category, presented by the West Central Florida Area Agency on Aging. Coupled with high ratings by JD Power and Associates for customer satisfaction and services offered, Home Instead has been recognized as a truly ‘senior friendly’ organization.
Since Home Instead’s beginning, owner Kristi Campbell has provided two community support programs annually targeted at area seniors. “Be a Santa to a Senior” is designed to stimulate human contact and social interaction with seniors who may not have friends or family visiting during the holidays. She and her staff collect gifts and donations from the community to provide lonesome seniors with holiday wrapped packages. Nearly 500 needy seniors were surprised with more than 1500 gifts during the holidays in 2010.
“Operation Medicine Cabinet” is a community service project that collects expired and unused medicines from area residents. This program is aimed at educating seniors about the risk of a crowded medicine cabinet which might cause confusion and lead to the dangerous use of the wrong medications. The program also protects our water supply from flushed medications, and our youth, who may abuse prescription drugs that they access from grandparent’s drug cabinets. The medicines are disposed of properly through the help of the Hillsborough County Sherriff’s Office. To date, more than 6,000 lbs. of medications have been collected and properly disposed of.
Owner Kristi Campbell says, “Home Instead is more than a business to me. It’s a way to protect our seniors and give back to this venerable population in our community.” Almost 12% of Hillsborough County’s population is 65 years or older. Many are home bound and in need of a little extra help to maintain their independence. Home Instead offers these support services 24/7.
Home Instead is recognized as an AARP Employer of Choice. The company recruits older adults for employment, making whatever accommodations are needed for their social security allowances or their allotted hours. The local Home Instead office utilizes various county agencies searching for older Americans that need training for a new career. According to Campbell, “our older population is well equipped to help clients with their activities of daily living. We provide the training necessary for these individuals to be productive in our daily operation.”
Home Instead Senior Care's mission is to enable seniors to live happy, healthy, and independent lives in their homes.
