The Gift of Companionship

You know how challenging it can be taking care of your own Mom and Dad. Think about those seniors who don't have anyone to look after them, or to even visit. You may know plenty. Some have lost spouses and outlived family members.

Others have children hundreds of miles away. Perhaps you are a long distance family caregiver yourself. In addition to lacking companionship, some of these seniors also may have been hit hard by the economy. They need the basic necessities just to survive.

Home Instead Senior Care's Be a Santa to a Senior® program is designed to fill both those important needs for seniors throughout our community. Individuals can buy seniors gifts that will provide them with a special treat or an item that is truly needed. Most gift requests are very simple such as a blankets, slippers, toiletries, pajamas and robes.

Our office has partnered with Boscov's in the Exton Square Mall and Peebles in Kennett Square to help residents at Coatesville VA Medical Center, Luther House in West Grove and Coatesville Towers in Coatesville. The tree ornaments have the names and gift ideas of 200 senior  who are in need during the holidays.  If you would like to take part in our " Be a Santa to a Senior" and help a local veteran, please pick out an ornament, purchase a gift, and drop it off at the designated store location.

The Home Instead Senior Care network has a great track record of giving back to seniors. In North America, the Be a Santa to a Senior program has attracted upwards of 60,000 volunteers over the past six years distributing gifts to deserving seniors. Since introducing this Be a Santa to a Senior program, we've helped provide 1.2 million gifts to more than 700,000 seniors.

If you would like to learn more about the Be a Santa to a Senior program, visit www.BeASantaToASenior.com or contact our office. We can also provide additional resources for family caregiving and would be happy to speak with you personally about any caregiving issues. There is no charge for an in-home care consultation, or for any of the Be a Santa to a Senior resources we will share with you.

Sincerely,

Phil McFadden and Amy Herkins
