It All Started With Our Founders

Lori and Paul Hogan, Home Instead Senior Care Co-Founders
It was Paul and Lori Hogan’s own experience caring for Paul's grandmother in her home for 12 years that inspired them to launch Home Instead Senior Care in 1994. Realizing that there were others families like theirs that needed help to keep their loved ones safely living at home, they have devoted themselves to making home care available throughout the U.S. and around the world. It’s what they know and love, and their services allow them to make a real difference to communities, families and individuals everywhere.

Patricia Kennedy - Franchise Owner

Patricia Kennedy was raised in Berwyn, majored in veterinary science at the University of Illinois and holds an MBA from Oklahoma City University. As a Captain in the US Army, Pat was one of the first female helicopter medical evacuation and search and rescue pilots and crew leaders. She flew operationally in Korea and in the Persian Gulf 1991, for which she was awarded the Combat Air Medal and the Bronze Star for Valor.  Pat has also worked for Humana, A.G. Edwards and Pfizer. In 2002 she became a Branch Owner with Home Instead, the nation’s leading in-home care provider. She is a member of the Aging Well Governing Council and the National Speakers’ Association. Pat is a Certified Senior Adviser, has a postgraduate qualification in Geriatric Care Management and is studying for her Doctorate while maintaining close involvement in Client Care.


Tom Ellen - Marketing

Tom Ellen retired as a field artillery Lt Col after 31 years service in the British Army, including on operations in the Balkans and Middle East. He holds Masters degrees from London City & Guilds Institute and Cranfield University. Recently recalled to Active Duty, Tom continues Marketing, a role he has filled since the company started in 2002.


Charmaine Bretz - Community Liaison

Charmaine Bretz has over 20 years of professional healthcare experience including diverse positions in training, operations, client assessment and case management. Charmaine majored in Nursing, minored in Psychology and is an enthusiastic advocate for the Home Instead ethos.

Bev Tilman - Director of Operations

Director of Operations Beverly Tilman holds a Masters degree in Social Work and is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Bev has extensive general management experience and a special interest in staff development and training; her goal is to help our staff and Caregivers do the jobs they love, with excellence. Bev loves entertaining, road trips and college basketball.


Elissia Aguilar - Staffing Coordinator

Staffing Coordinator Elissia Aguilar has worked in the health care field for more than 15 years. In her challenging role of matching clients and caregivers she engages proactively and

compassionately in order to provide excellent customer service to both. Elissia is a volunteer in her community and loves to play sports.


Jill Biggs - Caregiver Recruitment and Retention Coordinator

Caregiver Recruitment and Retention Coordinator Jill Biggs has 6 years experience within senior healthcare, and is completing her bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration. She is the enthusiastic and dedicated line

manager of our Caregiver staff and finds working with seniors incredibly rewarding.


Andrea McNeal

Andrea is a local resident and Registered Nurse with over 40 years experience in geriatrics, home health , primary care and hospice. Andrea has focused on Caregiver Training and Client Care since she joined Home Instead in 2006.

Ivy Winter - Receptionist

Ivy Winter worked full-time at Loyola Hospital before retiring. She became our part-time receptionist in 2002.
