Dalette & Steve Habenicht – Owners, Home Instead Senior Care Quad Cities
Since 2002, Dalette and I, along with the dedicated CAREGivers of the Quad Cities have been serving the seniors in the area with companionship and comprehensive senior care services designed to help seniors stay in their homes. We realize that our clients are people who still have hopes and dreams. Just like the rest of us, when they look in the mirror they don’t see themselves as old, but as they looked and felt many years ago.
Prior to Home Instead, I worked with small companies to help them comply with OSHA requirements, including education, training, products and services. Dalette owned a cleaning business and found that she often served as a caregiver for her senior clients, in addition to keeping their home clean. Companionship, errands, transportation and even staying overnight when needed. Realizing that the Quad Cities truly had a need for senior care services and fondly recalling many memories of spending Sundays with our grandparents put us in the perfect position for what happened next.
In 2001, I reconnected with a friend from high school who was already a franchise owner at Home Instead Senior Care. As we learned more about Home Instead, we were impressed with the family-focused team atmosphere, culture, purpose, and mission of Home Instead Senior Care and felt that the values of the company truly reflected our own.
There are many home care agencies in the Quad Cities, but when a senior and their family chooses us, they can be sure they are getting a Home Care Advocate (often myself), dedicated to providing a trained, prepared and compatible CAREGiver. The Advocate personally arranges the initial introduction, conducts follow-up calls, and oversees the first few weeks of services to make sure the best match has been made and that CAREGiver and client are developing a trusting and comfortable relationship.
We love our CAREGivers – and it shows! In an industry where 100% turnover is not uncommon, our CAREGIver turnover rate is right around 30%.
Now, nearly 10 years after we opened our Bettendorf office, my earnest desire to help our Quad City seniors AND my competitive nature keeps me on top of my game, enabling me to firmly believe that our business provides the best service available. With the business growing, Dalette and I have been fortunate to hire wonderful people who share our passion for helping seniors and we have learned to empower our staff to help us keep on growing and improving.
Another fantastic aspect of working with Home Instead Senior Care is the access it provides to help the senior community as a whole; not just those who are our customers. We help more 1500 needy seniors each year with our “Be A Santa to a Senior” program! It’s my pleasure to be on the Board of the Greater Iowa Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and to sponsor various support groups, educational programs and workshops for seniors and family caregivers. The resources that Home Instead Senior Care provides for us are fantastic references which we are happy to share with anyone who might benefit.
If you are caring for an aging loved one and would like to talk, please call 563-359-0027 in Bettendorf, IA or 309-736-1930 in Moline, IL. There is no obligation. Sometimes it is just nice to know that you are not alone.
Sincerely,
Steve Habenicht
