Every day, all across America, families are struggling to cope. Many are raising children, working demanding jobs and trying to care for a senior family member. These Americans are often called the "Sandwich Generation", and they are growing in record numbers. That's because America is aging in record numbers.

By the year 2020, the number of seniors will equal the number of 20 to 35 year olds.  Advances in medicine and healthier lifestyles will help seniors work longer and continue to lead more productive lives.  But the numbers also tell another story.  More and more children need to help care for their parents.  These family caregivers eventually run out of hours in the day, the stress becomes too great and the balance is broken.

Meet our team below.  We are committed to helping our local families and friends to meet the increasing demands of elder care.

Ben Klipsch, Owner

Ben purchased the 10 year old business in May of 2008.  After a successful 18-year career at Ameriqual, it was time for him to explore other opportunities that helped meet his desire to connect with our community and help people.  After a lengthy search, Home Instead Senior Care was the answer.  "My wife, Julie, and I made a conscious decision to raise a family in this area.  We are so lucky to get so much from our community; we want to give something back.  I look forward to working with this dedicated staff in helping our senior population maintain their independence and quality of life."

Ben graduated from Purdue in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management.  After graduation he went to work for Ameriqual and was fortunate to work in a company that developed and fostered tremendous growth over his 18 years there.  Ben recognizes and appreciates the value each of his Administrative team brings to Home Instead. One of Ben's greatest strengths is his ability to empower each and every employee to grow both professionally and personally.  He takes great pride in bringing out the "greatness" of each of his employees, whether they are part of our Administrative Team or one of our extraordinary CAREGivers.

Dennis Gunther, Director of Operations

Dennis came to Home Instead Senior Care in January of 2005 after working for Deaconess Hospital for twenty years. In 1992 after the death of his mother, Dennis decided that it was time to change careers, because he wanted to know that what he did on a daily basis made a difference. He went back to school and became a Critical Care Tech on the cardiovascular care center and eventually became an educator for the hospital. In 1997 Dennis took a position in the Resource Center and was a part of Deaconess Hospital's Senior Program. It was here that Dennis found his true calling. While in the Resource Center Dennis assisted in the opening of the two Deaconess Primary Care Centers for Seniors in Evansville.

In early 2005 Dennis was offered the position of Operations Manager and he quickly accepted. "It didn't take me long after learning about the history of Home Instead Senior Care and its mission to know this was where I belonged," said Dennis. "It is a great feeling to know that you are making a difference on a daily basis. I truly enjoy coming to work everyday." As Operations Manager he oversees the daily operations of all areas of the business. Dennis has a strong passion for seniors and believes in Home Instead Senior Care and its mission. He works closely with all the administrative team to ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.

Dennis loves his daily interaction with clients, families and CAREGivers. He has a vision, passion and a purpose and that is to make a difference in the lives of our Tri-State seniors and their families. Dennis would welcome the opportunity to talk with you about how his team can assist you.

David Barrans, Marketing Manager

David is one of our newest members to the Home Instead Family, joining us in October 2011.  As a previous manager for one of North America's largest car rental companies, he knows what it takes to offer exceptional service in a personal way.

With his background in marketing and management, David is excited to start his new career with Home Instead Senior Care.  "I am extremely fortunate to work for a company that offers me the chance to make an impact in the lives of those we care about."

David is very active with his church, and is a Staff Leader at his youth group.

Renae Hall, HR/Scheduling Manager

After college, Renae taught preschool and worked one on one with families in areas of growth and development.  After getting married and moving to Evansville, she wanted to transition to the opposite end of the spectrum and work with the elderly.  In the fall of 2010, Renae began working for Home Instead Senior Care as a CAREGiver.  In February of 2011, Renae transitioned from a CAREGiver to our Recruitment Coordinator.  In May, she moved into the role of Recruitment and Retention Manager.  She now oversees the hiring and training of our CAREGivers.

Renae has always had a love for the elderly and spending time with them.  She was even able to help care for her grandmother who had Alzheimer’s.  “It’s a joy for me to be a resource to our CAREGivers and guide them in their experience.  It is truly satisfying to see a senior be able to stay in the comfort of their own home as they age.”

Alicia Smith, Scheduling Coordinator

I joined Home Instead Senior Care in July 2010 as a CAREGiver.  When I was hired at Home Instead, I was a full time student at Ivy Tech Community College studying Nursing.  After I was hired, I fell in love with my job.  Taking care of the elderly made me feel complete and I felt like I was doing what I was supposed to be doing with my life.

In May 2011, I became a Scheduling Coordinator.  I enjoy this job as much as I did being a CAREGiver.  I am currently in the process of going back to school and pursing a degree in Health Care Support.

Christine McBride, Retention Coordinator

I graduated from the University of Southern Indiana in May 2011 with a B.S. in Marketing.  After graduating, I joined the Home Instead team in June 2011. “I knew what my family had gone through with my grandmother that had Alzheimer’s; it was difficult to place her in a nursing home when she would have rather been at home. I appreciated a business that strives to help seniors stay in their homes as long as possible.”

My current position is the Human Resources Retention Coordinator - where my goal is to keep CAREGivers happy and to make sure they are prepared and educated when going into our senior clients homes. The hard work is worthwhile when our staff gets to hear stories of the personal bonds, friendships, and connections our CAREGivers and clients make.

Becky Rigg, Recruitment Coordinator

Becky began working for Home Instead Senior Care in June 2011 as a Scheduling Coordinator.  Prior to this, she worked for a local Senior Living facility for 4 years in their Life Guidance wing, working with Alzheimer’s and Dementia residents.  “I loved my residents and the impact that they had on my life – they became family.”

In September 2011, Becky was promoted to Recruitment Coordinator where she plays an integral part in hiring our CAREGivers.

Becky is married with 6 kids between her and her husband Michael, ranging from 7 to 19.  She enjoys the people she works with, and the opportunity to provide quality care and making a difference in people’s lives.

Kylee Knox, Scheduling Coordinator

Kylee joined Home Instead Senior Care in May 2011 as a scheduling coordinator.  Prior to this, she worked in patient care at St. Mary's Hospital for 2 years.  She graduated from Bodyworks Massage Institute in June 2010 and became a nationally certified Massage Therapist in Aug 2010.  She is currently working towards certification in geriatric, prenatal, and sports massage.  "I love the element of touch and the way it can impact others in a positive way."

Kylee has always loved working with the elderly; "I love knowing I can make a difference, but I also enjoy the fact that they still make a difference in me as well."

Kylee is very active in her church and working with inner city youth here in Evansville.  She is also getting married in April 2012.

Denise Crane, Administrative Assistant

Denise comes to Home Instead with a long background in senior care, working in geriatrics for 20 years.  More recently, Denise was the activities director at a nursing home where she was there for 15 years.  "I've always had a passion for working with the elderly.  I now enjoy working for a company that allows seniors to remain in the comfort of their own home.  My job is such a blessing, allowing me to be of service to our clients, their families, and our CAREGivers."

Karen Martin, Client Care Advocate

Before she began working at Home Instead, Karen Martin was a social worker and patient advocate in the Evansville community for over twenty years.  It was their consistent dedication to good service that led to her joining the team as a Client Care Advocate in 2010.   “I appreciated the professionalism and responsiveness of the Home Instead team when I was assisting families arrange for reliable, trustworthy caregivers in their homes.”

Karen finds serving as a Client Care Advocate rewarding and worthwhile.  “I really enjoy going to clients’ homes and working with seniors and their families to assure that they are satisfied with our services and that we are providing high quality care in their homes.  From personal family experience, I know how important it is to find caregivers that you can count on to help you meet the many needs of your loved one.”

Julie Horner, Client Care Manager

Julie started working for Home Instead as a CAREGiver. She held this job for over a year before she joined the office staff as a Client Care Advocate. Now the Client Care Manager, Julie does Quality Assurance meetings with clients, as well as introduces new CAREGivers to their clients.

“I have always enjoyed being around elderly people so this job comes very naturally to me,” said Julie. “The CAREGivers make Home Instead successful. Without them there is no Home Instead; they are the backbone of this business.”

Katie Kern, Weekend Supervisor

Katie joined the Home Instead Senior Care family in September 2010 as a weekend supervisor. Her role with the company is to ensure quality care is provided on weekends and to provide support to both clients and caregivers. Katie has worked as a CNA for many years and most recently at Little Sisters of The Poor. Katie has a special passion for working with seniors and enjoys being able to make a difference in their lives. Katie is married and the mother of two small boys.
