For years, Dennis Wade counseled his clients on financial matters. As a C.P.A., he prepared his clients for most all of life's events; including the healthcare needs of an aging loved one. Over the years, Dennis helped guide families to make financial decisions regarding that care. He became familiar with the cost of different care options and how to help families plan.
It wasn't until 1994, when Dennis and wife, Vickie assumed primary care of his grandmother, that they experienced the emotional side of caregiving; learning how caregiving impacts every member of a family.
When Dennis and Vickie recognized "Granny Wade" could no longer live alone, they cooperated with extended family members to bring Mrs. Wade into their home to live. With their three teenagers also in the home, Dennis and Vickie found themselves struggling to juggle already full-time work and family schedules to also include full-time caregiver duties. Leaving the house for even the simplest errand became a challenge. All the while, it was their joy to see Mrs. Wade improve with personal, loving care at home.
During those years, trusted friends and clients began to recognize the genuine interest Dennis and Vickie had for seniors and for their care needs. With encouragement from those friends, Dennis and Vickie invested in a local Home Instead Senior Care franchise -- using all their knowledge and compassion to bring a new option to their community in 2001.
"In my accounting business, I heard countless stories from senior clients describing the help they needed. The stories were quite frustrating... sometimes even dangerous for my clients. Vickie and I wanted to put together a team of talented people who could help. We chose to associate with Home Instead; the best business of non-medical senior care." - Dennis Wade, 2009
