Be a Santa to a Senior program spreads holiday cheer to lonely or financially-challenged seniors throughout the Northbrook area. Home Instead Senior Care then partners with local non-profit and community organizations to identify seniors who might not otherwise receive gifts this holiday season. We would like to THANK everyone for their help and their participation.

Be a Santa to a Senior Brightens the Holiday for "Elder Orphans"
Home Instead Senior Care's "Be a Santa to a Senior" program has brightened the lives of hundreds of thousands of older adults with gifts and companionship. Seniors with no family and friends may feel the loneliness of the holidays more than those with a strong support network. Here's how the program works, which runs through December 21: Prior to the holiday season, the participating local non-profit organizations will identify needy, orphaned and isolated seniors in the community and provide those names to Home Instead Senior Care. Christmas trees, which will go up in Dominick's (450 Half Day Road, Buffalo Grove), Jewel Osco (890 N. Western Ave, Lake Forest), Jewel Osco (16 S. Waukegan Road, Deerfield), Kohl's (800 W. Dundee Road, Arlington Heights), and LaSalle Bank (1200 Shermer Road, Northbrook) on Monday, November 26 will feature ornaments with the first names of seniors and their respected gift requests. Holiday shoppers can pick up an ornament, buy items on the list and return them unwrapped to the store, along with the senior ornament attached. Home Instead Senior Care then enlists volunteer help to collect, wrap and distribute gifts to these seniors. Call 847-418-3300 or e-mail homeinsteadns@hotmail.com for more information.
