A Home Instead CAREGiver is a special person. Someone who enjoys the elderly and finds satisfaction in helping them remain in their homes where they are healthier and happier. A chosen candidate is someone who knows how to make close relationships and still remain professional, and someone who understands the needs of the elderly and wants to be a part of their lives.
As a Home Instead CAREGiver you will provide:
- Companionship
- Light Housekeeping
- Laundry
- Meal Preparation
- Medication Reminders
- Incidental Transportation & Running Errands
And for those clients needing more assistance:
- Personal Care
- Hospice Respite
- Alzheimer Care
The requirements to be a Home Instead CAREGiver are:
- At least 21 years old
- Valid driver's license
- Clean criminal background and driving record
- TB - skin test certificate
- A reliable car
- Be responsible and caring
- Demonstrate good judgment
- Be able to follow directions
- Be willing to learn
- Be able to work independently
No certification or experience is required, although it is desirable.
Although it's an incredibly rewarding career, your clients may not always welcome your help. Some will face greater challenges then others - like mobility issues or dementia. But these challenges reaffirm how much your help is needed.
As a CAREGiver, you may provide companionship and help with daily activities such as light housekeeping, meal preparation and errands. Or you may be asked to perform more personal services like help with toileting and bathing.
