My twenty years in Production and Inventory Management although exciting at times always left a void in me.  I often found myself with questions like what have I done today or yesterday or last year to make a difference in the world.  I found the answer in 1998 when I found a service that would help seniors to age at home.  I was elated to find Home Instead Senior Care, a place that not only provides a much needed service for seniors but also provide a place that values employees.  This was something missing for me in my corporate jobs. My years with Home Instead Senior Care have been the most rewarding time of my working career.

At 47 years old I thought I was embarking on a new adventure when I accepted the job as General Manager with Home Instead Senior Care of Greenville. As owner Rick Shaw interviewed me about my management skills, people skills and customer service skills I was lost in the moment and excepted a new challenge in my life. What I failed to remember was senior care was not new to me at all........At a young age as early as nine years old I helped look after and care for my mothers two elderly aunts, Mable and Ruth. With as little as mowing yards, cleaning up around the house and some home care assistance, I had started down the road to in home senior care. Later, around thirteen I found I had added volunteering  at the seniorcare facility around the corner as an elderly companion. This all set the road for the next twenty odd years that every job I had was in customer service and ultimately customer satisfaction. At Home Instead we value or clients as we would family. Service just continues to be a recurring theme not only with my self but our entire Homeinstead team. We would love the chance to provide in home senior care services for you and or your loved ones.

 I am one of the luck people you hear about that loves there job and is living the dream. At a very young age I had discovered my true passion and that is working with seniors. With my experience and education in insurance I was able to help seniors with Medicare issues. This is when I found first hand problems with getting help for the seniors in my community. Resources were scarce and funding seemed to be going towards preventative measures rather than the senior population. This is when I decided to go back to school and finish my bachelor’s degree and pursue a permanent career in helping seniors. After a few years counseling seniors I went to work with the Leiutenant Governor’s office on Aging as a SHIP councilor for Medicare part-time until October of 2011 when I accepted a position at Home Instead Senior Care as a Community Service Representative. This was not a far stretch since I was already very familiar with their services and reputation for going above and beyond for the seniors in their care. I wanted to work for someone who truly shared my passion and was dedicated to improving our community and giving back for the many blessing we have been given. This has been a great experience for me, Greenville has opened up their arms and welcomed me in and I feel sovery blessed to work with such wonderful people and know I am making a difference every day

 

I am a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.  My position with Home Instead Senior Care involves training the staff to ensure skills are current and the care each CAREGiver provides meets our mission statement and values.  I specialize in the care of the elderly and for those who have suffered strokes.  My passion is educating the community on the risk factors, signs and symptoms of a stroke.

In my spare time, I watch Disney movies with my daughter or go to the local lake for a relaxing boat ride with my family.  I also enjoy getting lost in a good book or movie.
