Although Shirley has only been with us since January 2010 she has proven her self very valuable. Shirley's compassion, caring and concern always shine through. She received this CAREGiver of the quarter award and is a star CAREGiver as was shown when Mr. Hank wilsons wife told us how he looked forward to seeing her when she arrive and how well she communicated with and cared for him. Shirley and also been a shinning star when at the last minute, on several occasions, she was ready, willing and available to jump in and help out not only the client but the company as well. Shirley is truly a Star CAREGiver for this she received a trophy, a flower and a gift picked out be the office staff and will have her picture on our Star CAREGiver wall.

On June 25th we honored Mr. Micheal Overbeck as a Star CAREGiver due to his continuous service not only to Home Instead Senior Care but to Mr. Martilla (his client who had so many wonderful things to say about him). Micheal has been with us since November 2008. Since coming on board with us from Home Instead Senior Care in Asheville,N.C. He has served over 5000 hours and was honored for his service and received his 5000 hour pin. Thank you Micheal for your continued service to our company and your clients.

Brenda Rice was honored at our quartely meeting as a Star CAREGiver for her service to Mrs. Knight. Mr. and Mrs. Knight had so many wonderful things to say about Brenda and in fact did so on video tape for all of us to view. Brenda, being with us since March 2009, also received her 1000 hour pin in recognition for her continued service to Home Instead Senior Care and her clients particularly Mrs. Knight. Thank you Brenda for all your hard work.

At our quarterly meeting Ms. Lois Lebo was honored as a Star CAREGiver for her continuing service to Mrs. Voss. Mr. and Mrs. Voss were very happy to sit down and speak to us about how highly they think of Lois in fact,it was done on a video tape so it could be shown at our Star CAREGiver meeting. Lois has only been with us a very short time but has made an obvious impression on Mr. and Mrs. Voss as well as our local Home Instead Senior Care staff. Thank you Lois and keep up the good work.

Debra Morris was honored at our Star CAREGiver meeting for her longevity. Debra has been with Home Instead Senior Care in Greenville since December 2005 and,in that time,has served our company and her clients with over 16,000 hour of service (and Jane Caldwell tells us Debra will go over 20,000 hours by the end of the year). For this Debra received her 16,000 hour pin and a potted plant. You have served well. Keep up the good work Debra.

Mei Newmann loves her neighbor. Her motivation is nothing less than doing the best job she can for clients, watching their faces light up when she arrives and finding ways to enjoy their company. She’s also a lifelong learner who provides competent, compassionate care.

Lisa Barr Kazmierczak saw eyelids flutter. Her client, who had vowed not to get out of bed that day, was curious. The client and CAREGiver had exchanged words that, had she believed them, would have broken Lisa's heart. Despite encouragement, the client refused to rise and shine. Lisa told her she would check again in 15 minutes, but the client told her not to bother.

When it comes to clients with physical illnesses or disabilities, CAREGiver of the Year Jane Travis truly understands. Jane, from the Carmel, New York franchise office, has lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for many years, but that hasn't stopped her. In fact, she's the first one to admit it's made her a better CAREGiver. "Going through MS makes me more understanding and compassionate for other people's illnesses," she said.

Helena Hickson of Savannah, Georgia came to Home Instead Senior Care with the highest qualifications. The third eldest of 12 children born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, to a carpenter and his homemaker wife, Helena had plenty of experience caring for her siblings.

A good deed led Charles Ripley of Des Moines, Iowa to make caregiving a successful career long after he had retired from other jobs. "I became interested in caregiving when I took care of a friend with emphysema," Charles said. "I'd pick him up and take him to dinner and I'd drive him where he needed to go. When he couldn't take care of himself, I helped him find a nursing home."
