Our local home care company draws much of it’s inspiration from my wife’s dearly missed grandmother, Mrs. Eunice Miller. Mrs. Miller, referred to by everyone as “MaMom”, was one of the most special, loving, patient and aw-inspiring women we have ever known so we found it fitting to name our annual CAREGiver of the Year Award in her honor.
Each year, we choose one CAREGiver with whom we feel has exemplified the qualities and traits similar to that of MaMom and has made a positive impact on the seniors that he or she cares for.
I’m very excited that it’s finally that time of year again and I have the most humbled privilege to announce Ms. Frances Locker as the 2011 Eunice Miller Award Winner for Home Instead Senior Care of Baton Rouge.
Frances has a very unique situation in that she is the primary CAREGiver for a group of nine Catholic Brothers living together in a private residence designed and built especially to meet their needs in Baton Rouge. Many of these Brothers have come from other parts of the country to retire at this home so Frances has had the ability to form very strong relationships with each of them in different ways.
As we interviewed each of them, it was very obvious that Frances has been able to help the Brothers overcome some significant changes. Nearly every Brother commented on how long they had lived without having a female in their living quarters but how they have grown to not only accept it, but cherish the time and help given to them by Frances. Her deep rooted faith and her compassionate heart have proven to help her understand and manage their special circumstances in a way that most people would likely not understand.
While I could go on for hours writing about how wonderful Ms. Frances is and how lucky we are to have such and angel in our family, I would prefer that you take a few minutes to hear from Frances as well as a few of the Catholic Brothers she cares for. The video below is a small but accurate depiction of the wonderful person she is, and shows how CAREGiving is truly personal to her.
Frances…On behalf of our entire family and staff at Home Instead Senior Care in Baton Rouge, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
