Andrea Sussman, MSW - Owner & Executive Director Andrea is a licensed social worker with extensive experience in the senior health care field. Her previous positions include Director of the Special Care Unit at Waterview Nursing and Rehab Center, and Director of the Geriatric Care Coordination Program at Saint Barnabas Medical Center. Ms. Sussman received her Master's degree in Social Work from New York University.
Andrea is a hands on owner who sets the tone each day which results in the wonderful customer experience that our clients have enjoyed for the past 10 years.
Andrea is married to her husband, Steve Sussman, who is the Owner of the Passaic County HISC office. Together they raise their four children who range in age from 8 to 15. Along with his good sense for business, Steve brings with him an undeniable passion for Home Instead Senior Care. With over 20 years of sales and business management under his belt, Steve’s knowledge and experience are important aspects of our office.
Steve is a hands on owner who is always looking for and helping to provide solutions to our clients, their families and perspective clients as well.
Steve is married to his wife Andrea and together they bring a unique team approach to running both of their Home Instead Senior Care franchises. In his spare time, Steve is president of his synagogue, enjoys exercising and along with Andrea, helps to raise their 4 children.   Liz Ficarra - Director of Client Services Liz has been part of our Home Instead Senior Care family for ten years. A real "people person", Liz brings a broad range of customer service experience to the Home Instead Senior Care, Morris/Passaic County family. She is responsible for ensuring that all clients and their families receive the highest quality of care and attention on a daily basis.
Liz has two children and two dogs. In fact, her dog Saxon is a certified Pet Therapy dog that not only visits our office regularly, but also visits many of the nursing homes and assisted livings that we serve. Liz also volunteers as a Foster Parent for the local animal shelter, training and caring for young pups before they are permanently adopted.   Janet Gardner - Staffing Director Janet is the "Grand Central Station" of our Home Instead Senior Care, Morris/Passaic County family. Her responsibilities include managing client and CAREGiver schedules, ensuring the best relationship between clients and CAREGivers, and maintaining the highest quality service. She keeps our client information accurate and up-to-date, so our CAREGivers know what to expect with each client.
Janet enjoys life with her husband of 30 years. She has 3 grown boys and 3 grandchildren. Janet comes to the Home Instead family with years of experience caring for children with special needs, her aging parents and her mother-in-law.
She enjoys crafting and sewing in her free time. Janet is at her best when she has a piece of milk chocolate nearby!   Lauren Sweeney - Recruitment and Retention Coordinator
Lauren comes to our team with a background in the home health industry. Her responsibilities include interviewing and hiring qualified CAREGivers. But her job does not stop there. She is also involved with finding new and exciting ways to retain our valued employees through everything from incentive programs to our monthly CAREGiver Newsletter.
Lauren holds a BA in English from East Stroudsburg University and a Master of Fine Arts from Vermont’s Goddard College. When she is not working, Lauren enjoys writing (be it blogs, stories, or scripts), theater in all its forms (opera is a personal favorite), and spending time with her family (and yes, her cat counts!).   Cara Jakimowicz - Administrative Assistant
Cara is our “Jak” of all Trades in the office. She assists in many roles varying from collecting billing hours, client and caregiver relations and staffing, and maintaining various records essential to Home Instead Senior Care. She is everyone’s extra hand when one is needed! She graduated from Rowan University in 2008 with a BA in Early Childhood Education and a BA in Writing Arts. She changed career paths, but still wanted a career that makes a difference in others lives.
Originally from South Jersey, she relocated to the area and bought a house with her fiance. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and renovating her home.   Kathy DiBisceglie - Quality Assurance Coordinator Kathy helps maintain important paperwork and ensures files are up to date so that we can better serve our clients and meet the needs of our CAREgivers. She visits clients at their homes to ensure that they are receiving the best possible care and that the CAREGivers are following Home Instead Senior Care procedures and care plans. Kathy is a graduate of Montclair State University and has a background in Nutrition, Research & Development and Behavioral Health. Kathy enjoys gardening, photography and attending her kids' soccer matches.   Steve Tyburski - Director of Community Relations Steve is tasked with developing and maintaining relationships with valuable resources in our community. He educates people about the services that Home Instead Senior Care offers and how we can benefit the residents of Morris & Passaic Counties and the surrounding areas. He often educates groups on a variety of topics involving aging. Steve brings relationships to the table that benefits our clients and CAREGivers alike.
Steve is a veteran of Marketing and Community Relations. He is an active volunteer with the Family Services of Morris County's Senior Cents program; a member of the Morris County Caregiver Coalition organized by the United Way and current President of the Information Network on Aging (INOA), an organization dedicated to providing various resources and services to seniors. He enjoys travel and cooking. Steve and his wife live in Morris County.
  Joann Karas - Community Service Representative Joann Karas serves as our Community Service Representative throughout Passaic County. Joann brings 25 years of experience working with seniors and their families in nursing homes, sub-acute rehab, and assisted living facilities. Joann is a passionate supporter of "Patient Rights" a Volunteer Advocate with the New Jersey office of the Ombudsman serving in Passaic County, and a member of the Wayne Saint Joseph's Hospital auxiliary. Responsibilities include educating seniors about non-medical services to improve their quality of life while remaining safely in their home.
Joann and her husband Robert have raised two daughters and are now enjoying their four grandchildren. Free time is for gardening an baking delicious goodies.
  Jennie Stormes - Registered Nurse Case Manager
Jennie is our registered nurse who specializes in chronic illness and long term care. She supervises our Certified Home Health Aid’s in our client’s homes and creates care plans for our clients.
Jennie is a mother of two teenage children and two crazy dogs. In her spare time she assists children suffering from epilepsy, autism and special needs by advocating for education and medical needs. She is a commissioned Notary Public and founded the Academy for Notaries which provides educational training seminars for new and renewing notaries in New Jersey. Baxter - Office Dog
Baxter is our crazy beloved office dog. He is a pure bread Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier. He is proficient in windows and excel and is always eager to help with any task. Baxter’s non-stop energy and puppy like qualities keeps all of us on our toes whenever he comes to work. |
