At Home Instead Senior Care, we reward our local CAREGivers with CAREGiver of the Month and CAREGiver of the Year awards to show our appreciation for all they do. Home Instead, Inc. also recognizes regional CAREGivers of the Year and one special CAREGiver who shows exceptional dedication is the recipient of the national award — The Mary Steibel CAREGiverSM of the Year Award.

This program inspires CAREGivers to strive for excellence. It creates a sense of pride in the fact that the Home Instead Senior CareSM franchise network recognizes, appreciates and rewards their hard work, compassionate care and service to others.

Meet the CAREGivers of the Month

Carolyn Taylor

CAREGiver of the Month, for January, 2011, is Carolyn  Taylor. Carolyn  has been    working for Home Instead Senior Care since August, 2009. Carolyn has worked with 25 different clients and worked over 1,700 hours and also works for one of the local facilities. Carolyn is always willing to stay an extra hour or take that last minute shift and her clients always look forward to seeing her. One of Carolyn’s client’s daughters said she always felt assured when Carolyn was there. “She just seems to know exactly what to do and gets it done.”  Carolyn says she enjoys knowing that she is helping. Oscar Lowe

CAREGiver of the Month for December, 2010, is Oscar Lowe.  Oscar came to work for Home Instead Senior Care in December 2008.  Oscar works full time for Senior Resources of Guilford as the Director of Meals on Wheels as well as Providing care to his clients with Home Instead Senior Care.  Oscar's current client, who is one of five gentlemen Oscar has assisted, enjoys having someone to help him remain as independent as possible in his home.  The client's family think very highly of Oscar and so do we.

Wanda Beatty

CAREGiver of the Month for November, 2010, is Wanda Beatty.  Wanda came to work for Home Instead Senior Care in December 2007.  Wanda has worked with 49 different clients, accumulating over 7,400 hours.  Wanda works seven days a week most weeks and is still willing to help out in a pinch.  Wanda's concern for her clients and determination to provide quality care is one more reason our CAREGivers help make Home Instead Senior Care the best non-medical, in-home care service in the Triad.  Congratulations and thank you, Wanda, for all you due.

Beth Gentry

CAREGiver of the Month for October, 2010, is Beth Gentry.  Beth came to Home Instead Senior Care in March 2009.  Beth has worked with six clients, accumulating over 1,300 hours, over 1,000 of which were with her current client, whose service began almost the same time Beth started working.  The time Beth has spent with this client has greatly enriched her life.  So much so, even the staff at the facility where she lives recognizes Beth's devotion and compassion to provide quality care to her clients.  Thank you Beth for helping make Home Instead Senior care the best non-medical in-home care service in the Triad.

Frances Elliott

CAREGiver of the Month for September, 2010, is Frances Elliott.  Frances  came to Home Instead Senior Care in May, 2009.  she said she was just looking for something to keep her busy.  Not only has she kept busy, she has already accumulated a little over 2,600 hours with 18 different clients.  Frances always has a smile on her face and an experience to share.  Frances enjoys working with her clients and they enjoy her.  Frances says she even loves the new hours system, Santrax.  Thank you, Frances, for helping make Home Instead Senior Care the best non--medical in-home care service in the Triad.

Ed Duda

CAREGiver of the Month for August, 2010 is Ed DudaEd came to Home Instead Senior Care in February 2009. Ed is always coming in to the office to make sure he has all his information correct or to give us updated information on his client’s care needs.  Ed is always there at a moment’s notice even at 4am and has had as many as 34 different clients, many of these have been temporary, or clients who only needed service for an hour at a time. He is always ready to help any client in need.  Thanks Ed for helping make Home Instead Senior Care the most trusted non-medical in-home care service in the Triad.

 


Wanda Young

CAREGiver of the Month for July 2010 is Wanda Young.  Wanda beame a CAREGiver for Home Instead Senior Care in June 2009.  When a client went into the hospital, the family wanted Wanda with the client every day.  Wanda says yes to staying late and yes to going in early. The word no is not in her vocabulary. She continues to amaze us with her unending dedication, loyalty, dependability and caring.  Thank you, Wanda for helping  to help make Home Instead Senior Care the most trusted non-medical in-home care service in the Triad.

 


Stephanie Jackson

CAREGiver of the Month for June 2010 is Stephanie Jackson. Stephanie has been working for Home Instead Senior Care since October 2004, has worked with 43 different clients, most all of who need personal care and over 6400 hours. Along with her caring personality, Stephanie seems to have the ability to gain her clients confidence and trust, helping her to provide them with the care they need.  She is dependable and a joy to work with. Stephanie loves what she does and her clients really love her, and it shows in the work she does. Donna Staggers

CAREGiver of the Month for May, 2010 is Donna Staggers.     Donna has been a Home Instead Senior Care CAREGiver since July 2006.  Donna has worked with 46 different clients, most of them with some form of dementia.  Donna has performed miracles with her current client who has been  difficult to befriend.  Donna is dependable and caring and always willing to persevere when it seems  impossible. Whenever Donna commits to something, she always comes through.  She must surely have a magic wand that has enabled her to have worked without a single complaint from client or co-worker, with clients who have literally accepted no one else. Ava Pleasant

CAREGiver of the Month for April, 2010 is Ava Pleasant.  Ava has been a Home Instead Senior Care CAREGiver since May 2006, and has worked over 13,500 hours with 37 different clients.  Ava was introduced to Home Instead by another Home Instead CAREGiver and has been providing professional service to her clients ever since.  One of her clients says she never has to worry about anything when Ava is around because she always just seems to know what needs to be done and makes sure she knows her schedule which helps the day go smoothly.  Ava is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure she is safe and happy.  Thank you, Ava, for helping make Home Instead Senior Care the most trusted source of non-medical in-home care in the Triad.

Bessie DeBerry

CAREGiver of the Month for March, 2010, is Bessie DeBerry. Bessie has been with Home Instead Senior Care since April 2001 and has worked over 17,000 hours with 103 clients. Bessie was in the top ten of over 100 nominees for Caregiver of the Year for the Triad Assisted Living Association in 2008. Bessie’s devotion to Home Instead shows in the care she provides to her clients.  At 75 she still wants to be busy. Bessie also works in her  church as a leader for the Senior Ministries and is First Vice President of the Missionary Circle. She works with Guilford County  Missionary Union,  is a  special worker for the district and county missionaries, and, occasionally has been known to give up some of  her time to help out in the Home Instead office.  Thank you, Bessie, for the longevity and devotion to Home Instead Senior Care. We are truly  grateful for all you do to help make Home Instead Senior Care the most trusted non-medical in-home care service in the Triad.


Suzanne Malloy

Our CAREGiver of the Month for February, 2010 is Suzanne Malloy.  Suzanne came to work for Home Instead Senior Care in May, 2008.  She has worked with 19 different clients and accumulated over 3800 hours.  Her dedication to her clients is unsurpassed.  She will often drop everything at a moment's notice to help fill a shift, not only with her regular clients, but wherever needed.  It is not unusual for Suzanne to change her personal plans to accommodate the needs of Home Instead.  Suzanne is capable, versatile, always dependable and a pleasure to work with.  Suzanne takes the time to make sure her clients needs have been met and that they are treated with dignity and respect.  Thank you Suzanne, for helping to make Home Instead Senior Care the most trusted source of non-medical home care in the Triad.

Frances Elliott

CAREGiver of the Month for January, 2010 is Frances Elliott.  Frances, who came to work for Home Instead Senior Care in May, 2009, at the young age of 82, says she just likes to be busy.
 
Having working with children for 15 years, she decided she wanted a change.  After looking around and talking about what she would like to do, she was referred to Home Instead.  Frances has already worked with 11 different clients, often-times changing her own personal plans to suit the needs of the client and Home Instead.  Frances says "I love what I am doing," and it shows.  Thank you, Frances, for helping to make Home Instead Senior Care the most trusted non-medical home care service in the Triad.

Wyomissing, Pennsylvania

Lisa Barr Kazmierczak saw eyelids flutter. Her client, who had vowed not to get out of bed that day, was curious. The client and CAREGiver had exchanged words that, had she believed them, would have broken Lisa's heart. Despite encouragement, the client refused to rise and shine. Lisa told her she would check again in 15 minutes, but the client told her not to bother.

A good deed led Charles Ripley of Des Moines, Iowa to make caregiving a successful career long after he had retired from other jobs. "I became interested in caregiving when I took care of a friend with emphysema," Charles said. "I'd pick him up and take him to dinner and I'd drive him where he needed to go. When he couldn't take care of himself, I helped him find a nursing home."
